Spinner reel kicked my butt

So, I went fishing with the girlfriend last weekend by the lake. So I brought my old spinner rod and reel with me.

I don't know if I've just been fly fishing too much or what but I could not get...

Wow that was a great story. Exactly what happened to me except I didn't have the wits to dunk my reel in the water. Thanks for sharing that!

Re: Ever have a reel freeze?

Justin, do your reels keep water out of the bearings?

I'm totally broke which is why I bought a $50 reel. But as I said it's been totally smooth up until yesterday. And now it's fine.

I guess...

Re: Ever have a reel freeze?

No it's a generic sorta knock off thing I got for $50. It's closer to a Ross design. It's been a good reel. Never had a problem until yesterday.

Re: Ever have a reel freeze?

OK good to know. Where does it freeze? Like behind the disc? Or in the bearings?

Ever have a reel freeze?

I went fishing in the Rockies yesterday and I had a bit of a problem with my reel. I got a good sized rainbow and managed to land it. But after that whenever I hooked a fish the reel would either go...

Re: I'm back!

The day I went to Deckers there were a few guys out there. I was surprised it was crowded even in winter. That place is always crowded. I had a bite early on when the sun was out, but I actually...

Glad to see you out fishing again!! I did some winter fishing at Deckers last week and caught a nice looking brown. Maybe we could meet up on the Blue one of these days?

Behind Aspen Grove Mall

Anyone ever fish there?

I saw signs saying you can fish there. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried. The water is so low right now though, I wonder if there's anything alive in there.

Re: Rainbow Trout Pics

This rainbow put up a HUGE fight. After I got it off the hook it hung out at my feet for about 5 minutes before taking cover.

15 minutes of fame

I went out to my favorite spot on The Blue yesterday. I got skunked all morning so I decided to take a walk a little further down stream than where I usually go.

I found a nice spot with what I...

This picture makes me laugh. This trout decided to squirm out of my hands just as I snapped the picture. Oh well.
