You read about people on this forum doing this but how exactly do you target brook trout vs rainbow or browns? Are some more likely to lie in deeper pools and others along banks/undercuts?

Smith Optics vs Costa Del Mar

Another vote for the 580 glass from Costa. Received my pair with my Rx a few months ago. It's not light, took a while to get used to the slight increase in weight, but the clarity is remarkable.

I...

Bauer MacKenzie CFX vs Galvan Torque

I love my CFX in my 6wt, but I also have a Torque for my 4wt. All things being equal, I just love my Galvan a touch more.

Re: Reels locking up

Nope. Fishing for trout in the Driftless area, I use little backing on my reel. The lock isn't from line stacking up... Thanks though!

Reels locking up

Among my reels, only my Galvan Torque has not had this happen once. I've recently purchased an Abel Trout reel and a Bauer CFX and both have had the reel "lock up" when I would attempt to pull line...

For Northern Iowa trout fishing, nothing beats my Winston 4wt, 7'6" BiiT. I prefer to fish with dry flies and it's as sweet and delicate as you can get.
