after a few months away from the vise....

....i picked up a bobbin holder spooled with 8/0 thread and it felt like tying with rope! :(

i normally use veevus 12/0 to tie just about everything

gotta put that 8/0 away and get back to 12/0

some methods mentioned above seem to be a little bit of overkill (just my opinion)

i wind lead wire directly around a bare shank an then build a dam of thread in front and in back of the lead...

yes, weighting flies with lead wire is what we did before beads so it should still be good today

just a little GOOGLE tip i use and for everybody trying to find a fly patter or anything else

try adding "fly pattern" or "fly tying" after the words you're looking for and GOOGLE will weed out a...

i think that over time (and i dont know how long) with water and physical handling of the fly, the marker ink will eventually break down and fade away.

i mark my house number on my garbage can...

when adjusted properly even those boy scouts can do it

it doesnt take a lot of effort or pressure to...

In the grand scheme of things does it really matter which brand?

In the long run the expensive marker will wash out just like an inexpensive market will. Nothing is really "permanent" except death...

ill start by saying i have tied flies that i will most likely never use. i have fly boxes full of nymphs, wets, streamers, dries etc!

where you live has nothing to do with what you like to tie
