Re: A IMO Thought (Sage/Winston)

All good replies.

I have fished Sage and Winston in the past (Biix, Bii-MX, Xi3, One, Circa) and I like them both. The Winston rods are gorgeous as noted. Sage, I believe is on top in terms of...

A IMO Thought (Sage/Winston)

As I contemplate my next rod purchases, I have concluded that I will be veering from my past Loomis addiction. While the skeletal fish has proven worthy and has never failed me, I feel as though the...

Re: Galvan Grip?

Let's revive this thing.......

Has anyone had a chance to fish this reel yet?

If so, what is the verdict!

I am needing reels and despite loving my Hatch, I am staying open.

Right now I'm...

Tibor Signature Series

For those who have used these reels, what are your thoughts?

I have Hatch reels and have been pleased with them. I love Abel reels for their "customization" and beauty. Not too mention their...

Swith/Spey Rods

I'm in the market for a few of these rods and am having a really tough time deciding on rods.

I am currently considering Loomis, Winston and Sage.

I have long been a Loomis fan and I still love...

Re: Clackacraft or RO

I am in the upper Midwest. We have some long rivers where the headwaters are rocky and shallow, but the mid to lower sections are wide and tame. I like the idea of the drift boat for the upper...

Clackacraft or RO

I am contemplating a few different options right now.

In the drift boat category, I am looking at the Clackacraft and the RO. Clackacraft has been prompt in answering emails and questions, giving...

Re: Hatch "Trout Unlimited"

You know.......

I've said how often I like Hatch and that they have served me well. But, simply from a price point, for $1k, I'd much rather have an Abel with a custom finish on it.

Re: Hunting.......

We moved from AZ in February. I have never seen as many Dove as in that state. Although, the last Dove season we were there, a big monsoon came through a week before the opener and moved the birds....

Hunting.......

With hunting seasons in full swing around the country, I was curious as to how many fly fishers also hunt. In addition, what type of hunting do you enjoy.

We love to bowhunt, but are also very...

Re: Is Abel Losing Traction......

Good info and appreciated, however, this acquisition occurred some time ago (i didn't click the link and I do not recall the date of the acquisition). I agree with your post as well.

However, I...

Re: Is Abel Losing Traction......

As an Abel fan, I wouldn't have to say anything.

I would simply place an Abel in your hands and you would be able to see for yourself.

Re: Is Abel Losing Traction......

I think it may be compound problem.

First, as some have said, fly fishing is losing people who have the interest. I believe this in and of itself is a compound problem as well. Fly fishing may...

Is Abel Losing Traction......

I've been thinking about this and the past few years it seems as though Abel does not have the market share that it use to. It also seems as though folks are not as excited about Abel, in general,...

Re: Loomis Streamdance GLX HLS 4wt 8'6 or Sage ONE?

Perhaps.

However, I do not think it will be, at least not for 2016. With IFTD/ICAST having already taken place and there being no mention of this what so ever, it is hard for me to believe it. ...

Re: Sage one 890 tribs steelhead / salmon

It all boils down to the size of the waters you fish.

Some of the Great Lakes tribs can be small, really small and at times, you are lucky to get away with a 9ft rod. However, on the medium to...

Re: Loomis Streamdance GLX HLS 4wt 8'6 or Sage ONE?

While they are completely different rods in terms of their technology, they are both sound rods.

For me personally, the ONE is still too fast of a rod. On the other hand, given its age, the...

Hog Island SW16?

Anyone run one of these things?

I know they were quite the talk when they first came out, but it seems as though the buzz has worn off.

I am looking for something for 2016 and this is on the...

Re: TXL-F Replacement?

Sage, Sage, Sage.......

Sage used to be my favorite manufacturer, going back to the "LL" days. The "XP" was a little fast for me, the "ZXL" was probably my favorite rod. Loved the feel, loved...

Re: New Winston - Boron III Plus

I will give you the fact that Orvis the last few years has done quite a bit in the rod category. In fact, the H2 may have the best looking rod tube for what that is worth. The blue rods, kind of...

Re: Abel Sealed Drag still waiting

All of the "graphic" reels from Abel are finished by hand, one at a time.

That said, I would be pretty hot to have a wait like this for a reel!

Re: New Winston - Boron III Plus

Completely agree. A very poor move not to create any hype about the new products! This is THE EVENT and THE TIME OF YEAR to create some buzz and we didn't even get fizzle!

I really believe the...

Well, with the show over, may be we will hear about these new Winston rods. We sure didn't hear anything during the show!
