Re: Z-Axis versus One versus Scott Radian...

The only One I own is a 696, which would be great on the Missouri.

Re: Z-Axis versus One versus Scott Radian...

The Z-axis is my favorite rod, and I love casting it. But I read so much good stuff about the Radian that I sold my wife's rod, gave her my Z and ordered a Radian. I'm still getting used to it, but...

Sage Accel rod

A while ago a thread speculated on the upcoming Sage Accel. How does it compare to the Z-axis? Is the $600 price point correct? Etc.

So now that it's out and in our hands, what do you think? How...

Re: What is your favorite Brand and model fly Rod?

I was asked to compare the Sage Z-axis and the Scott Radian after saying the Z was my fav. My perspective is that of an intermediate fisher and caster.

I find the Z to be more "progressive." It...

Re: What is your favorite Brand and model fly Rod?

I love my Sage Z-axis rods. Currently my wife is using my 590. She says she can't tell the "difference," but I watch her cast and I can. I have a Scott Radian 590 and I am not in love. I think I'll...

Re: Simm's Rivertread

What type of studs do you use? Some vendors believe in the aluminum (flat, brushed) that obviously don't "grab," but apparently don't slide.

Simm's Rivertread

I'm reading good things about the new Simm's RiverTreat sole. Of course, much of it comes from people who would like to sell be a new boot. (1) Has anyone fished with this new product? (2) Is...

Re: Rods you regret buying...

Sage One 5 wt. 9'. Returned it and took my Z-axis to bed with me for a week. The Z forgave me...it's a very forgiving rod.

Re: Solo canoe Fly fishing?

I believe to fish out of a canoe you need one person controlling the bot and one fishing. Teach your wife or girlfriend to paddle while you fish. This is not as easy as it sounds.

Re: Fishing Wrist watches

Timex Expedtion. Absolutely. Mine takes a lickin and keeps on ticking. This impresses fish.

Scott Radian

I've been reading great things about the Scott Radian. Any of you folks tried it in about a 590-4? How does it compare to the Sage Z-axis?

Re: 10' 4wt recomendations

I love my 4 wt. 10' 4 piece Sage Z axis. Great for nymphing: casts great, covers a lot of water and will drop a fly into a prime holding spot 15' away. Will also cast dries on bigger waters.

I own and love my Sage Z axis 10 4. You can do so many things with it from nymphing to dry flies on a larger river.

Re: Have been looking at wicker creels....

Dabluz, Which do you prefer: putting the live fish in the creel & cleaning back near camp or cleaning the fish (trout, in my case) before putting it in the creel? If it's a tie, I'd rather keep...

Re: Italian Fly Casting Technique

OK, the DVD is "The Italian Style of Casting" by Massimo Magliocco. You cast in 2-deminsional plane, no pauses, always keeping contact with the line. Usually you cast at a 45 degree angle...or...

Re: Have been looking at wicker creels....

There are streams that benefit from taking a few trout. In the Driftless area of the upper Midwest, some streams heave too many smaller trout. Some western streams have populations too large for...

Italian Fly Casting Technique

I've just been watching a DVD on the "Italian Fly Casting Technique." Looks like it has some good ideas, and it certainly produces some beautiful casts. Any opinions or insights?

Re: Best Fly Fishing Vehicles

Re: Fish alone or with friends?

I mostly fish alone, but love to fish with my wife. Also, I've met so many interesting people on the streams here in Minnesota...artists, journalists, competitive bikers etc.

Greased leader

I have never "greased" a leader, but I've seen it recommended more often. Essentially, you put floatant paste on the leader to within a few inches of the fly to make sure the leader floats and does...
