I loved the area during several visits. The N.D. Badlands are also beautiful. Another must see at least once in S.D. is Wind Cave N.P. Your photos are beautiful.

I grew up in Pennsylvania in a steel mill valley. Due to air quality, never saw many flying insects and I imagine that has some effect on the bugs.

They both look like young Black Bears to me. Look at the stomach area. I saw the hump to but I think it's the angle and wet fur, and of course I could be wrong.

The State of Michigan has stocked both of those lakes with a lot of Brook Trout over the last decade. I also would guess that since you can drive up to them, they receive a lot of fishing pressure. ...
