Re: is Simms insane?

Just like rods, the high end feeds the innovation IMO. As long as we have affordable quality options it's all good. I do find it interesting how the Fly Fishing Labels are perceived outside the...

Re: Pond Scum

I complete get Mike's point. Chicago has had 250 homicides this year. Only makes the front page when they have a particularly bad night. We get numb to it and it no longer sell papers or online...

Re: If you don't like the weather go someplace else (at the moment).

Throughout the summer when you post the heatwave threads we get it a few days late. It's been a strange one. I think we've had about 11" of rain since June which is a lot for a Midwest summer. I...

Re: Pond Scum

I tried that last week :) I think John is making us work through our own disputes so we'll be ready when we grow up and go out on our own and he isn't around to fix it. If we want to continue...

Re: Pond Scum

Well written Tim.

And I saw that his dental practice is shut down while he is in hiding, The $3500 fine he received will now likely reach a suitable amount in financial damage.

Re: Couple of days off in Anchorage

I got to witness that this year. It looked a lot like folks trying to accidentally snag a King with a treble hook. Not on purpose of course because that would be illegal. :) Leaving town the next...

Re: is Simms insane?

I knew I set myself up for that. Jacket cost about $150 and seems like a good value after 10 years as it is still water tight. Good to about 0 with a liner and a few layers.

Re: Couple of days off in Anchorage

You will be a a few minutes from Ship creek which is in Anchorage. Kings run up it but that is over now. Not sure if any of the other salmon species run it when you are there. I am not aware of...

Re: is Simms insane?

Been wearing an Army Gortex jacket for 10 years or so. Survived a few seriously cold boat rides in Alaska. Felt like an under dressed old hippie doing it because the camou pattern is not current. ...

Re: Couple of days off in Anchorage

I would PM Ard Stetts (Hardyreels) from this forum and see if he is available for a day or two of fishing. He owns Life on the Line Flyfishing and guides out the area and I highly recommend him.

Re: is Simms insane?

Hell yeah, down with elite fly fisherman. They should get wet like everyone else. It isn't fair.

:)

Seriously though, one can stay dry for a bit less than $1K.

Re: Pond Scum

I get that. I don't think you are suggesting you support killing exotic animals, especially in an illegal manner if that is what truly happened.

This is the Lodge Den. No legislation will be...

Re: Pond Scum

Unfortunately we have become especially effective at thread kills for the past six months.

We had a really good one sided rant going on here, then people like Mike show up with a dissenting...

Re: Pond Scum

Fair statement Mike, as was the rest of your post. There wouldn't be much time to enjoy our lives if we really took time to properly reflect on the ugly news of the day. I do pick and choose from...

Re: Pond Scum

Wow, nowhere near enough punishment. I've seen fines larger than that for a one day haul of stocker trout, or a dozen extra walleye in many places. Legitimate hunters pay much more for a guided big...

Re: Roll Cast with a 3wt

Casting expert me is not. :) But here are a couple questions I have heard the pros here ask.

The line is on the water rod pointed forward. I believe you want to slide the line across the...

Kind of you to offer Craig. That line would work fine, but not for free. I will talk to you offline.

Re: Roll Cast with a 3wt

True, but we have a lot of guys here that specialize in fixing operator error. I'm betting they will help him fix this without requiring him to get out his billfold.

Re: Nail polish poppers?

You'll know quick. As soon as the SH dries you are good. It won't dissolve it tomorrow.

Re: Nail polish poppers?

Not if they are foam bodies. Most anything solvent based will dissolve foam.

Re: Roll Cast with a 3wt

I roll cast with my Redington CT 3WT 7-6 all the time. Moderate distances on smaller streams. Is there a particular distance you are trying to achieve?
