Sinking tip leader or fly line?

Fishing in the Driftless area in Iowa/Wisconsin/Minnesota and would like to fish streamers and wet flies without adding split shot to the tippet. I'd rather replace/change out the leader to a sinking...

Re: Two flies my 5-year-old designed!

I'm amazed at how much my kids like helping their papa with fly tying. Going to have to get them a Tenkara rod.

Re: Two flies my 5-year-old designed!

The peacock herl/blue wire/pink one is "scatter fly" and the soft hackle, "lion fly". Not much for imitators but have potential as prospectors!

I tied them after he picked the materials and told me what to do. Haven't used them yet but they look like they'll slay!

Targeting "Brookies"

You read about people on this forum doing this but how exactly do you target brook trout vs rainbow or browns? Are some more likely to lie in deeper pools and others along banks/undercuts?
