Re: What Reel Should I Ask Ms. Santa to bring me with a Shiny New Sage One Rod?

I just bought a Galvan Torque T4 in bronze. I have not used it yet but I love the look of it. The only thing I am slightly dissappointed about is the bronze is almost a red color. I guess you have...

Re: 9'6" rod too long?

Ok. I would be using it primarily for dry fly and smaller streams so I think it is too long for me. I appreciate the help.

9'6" rod too long?

I was thinking about buying a 9 1/2 ft winston im6 4wt but I never really hear of anyone using trout rods longer than 9 ft. I am fishing in NC. I would appreciate any thoughts on the 9 1/2 length....

I appreciate the replies. I went with the RIO Gold as I wont be fishing strictly dry flies.

Best line for a Scott A3 8ft 4wt

I bought a new rod and reel, Scott A3 and Galvan Torque 4wt, and am now looking for line. I am buying from BassPro and they sell Sharkskin, RIO LT, RIO Gold, and GPX. All of which I have heard are...

Re: Do I need an extra spool

Torque's are about $350 so that option is definitely out.

Do I need an extra spool

Was thinking about buying an extra spool for my torque. One for floating line and one for sinking tip. Do you guys actually use multiple spools? I have a good deal on a Galvan Torque T4 for $100...

Re: New fly fisherman. Reel choice.

Although I am new to fly fishing as well and dont have any experience to back up my suggestion, I recommend the Galvan Torque. You can find them on ebay in your price range if you watch closely. I...

Re: Galvan Spoke or Galvan Torque

I agree regarding the Torque. I am leaning toward a bronze Torque, maybe black. I dont really like the look of the Spoke but thought the lighter reel on the rods I mentioned would work best. If...

Re: Galvan Spoke or Galvan Torque

Not sure which one balances better. I think it will end up on a Scott A3 8' 4wt or a Scott G2 8'4" 4wt. I believe the weight difference is 0.5 oz. I have never used either but from an aesthetics...

Galvan Spoke or Galvan Torque

I have been presented the opportunity to trade my Galvan Spoke S-4 for a Galvan Torque T-4. I believe I would prefer a Torque but a couple things are making me hesitant. One, the Spoke is much...

Re: Rod Advice for beginner...Scott A3 or Winston IM6

Thank you for the advice.

I checked out that Murray and it is definitely out of my budget if bought new. When looking for a used G2 what do you think is a good price?

Re: Rod Advice for beginner...Scott A3 or Winston IM6

I looked into those CT rods and at $75 I might just pick one up. Based on another reply regarding length I might look into the 7' 6" 3 wt. Thanks for the info.

Re: Rod Advice for beginner...Scott A3 or Winston IM6

Why did putting a heavier wt line make it better? I have a 4wt reel and a 4 wt rod. Should I put 5wt line on it?

I understand the advice but since I am a beginner I am not sure I know what I like at this point. Only time will tell which is why I mentioned one option of just sticking with what I have until I...

Re: Another request for reel advice

Yeah, I am torn between the Nautilus and Torque.

Since I am putting it on a 8' 4wt I am leaning toward the Nautilus based on how light it is. The Scott rep said I should target reels that are...

Thanks for the reply. It is nice to have 1st world problems, Hardy DD or Nautilus FWX :). I was wondering which would balance better the 3/4 or 5/6. I appreciate that input.

Another request for reel advice

After a previous thread I thought I decided on the Hardy Ultralite but have since determined that it is too "nice" looking. I think I am going to go with something a bit less flashy. The three...
