Re: Which New Wading Boot?

One reason I stuck with with LL Beans Grey Ghost is the sizing. I wear a size 8 reg. LL Bean recommended I get an 8 wide to accommodate thick wool socks along with the neoprene fishing cold rivers...

Re: Lost and Found fly reel

Thanks guys, but I'm just returning a courtesy. I know what it's like to lose something I treasure. Dave and Newby, you guys are hysterical.

Re: Lost and Found fly reel

Dave,
I got a call from a lady who described her friends reel to a tee reel and line color. I did see her the same day kayaking when I found it. It's on its way.

Re: gear quality ?

You can just as much fun with low-end tackle as you can with high end tackle. I believe your line and rod must have a good fit for your casting skill. The reel merely holds line in most trout...

Talking Re: Shoot Off Of Barbed/De-Barbed Hooks

Barbless is easier to pull out of your thumb or someone else's ear on those windy days. Give fish the chance to self release.

Re: Stripping baskets

I took some closed cell foam to fit the bottom of the William Joseph basket and took the extra spikes that come from the Burlfish Kreh basket and retrofitted them to that foam. I store that in one of...

Re: Stripping baskets

Need them! I've got one for salt and one for fresh. I even retrofitted my William Joseph with spikes but I don't use them unless fishing big rivers. Last time I fished in the salt, I noticed a big...

Re: South Platte River Deckers Report

I fished Deckers last summer (hadn't fished there in 15 years+) and I have to admit my disappointment in meeting some pretty rude fishermen?. I kinda got this treatment sometimes when I skied the...

Re: Deals you may want to look at

I bought one after a favorable review on the A5 5wt rod. Honestly it does compare to the action my Sage SLT, Winston BIIX that I bought 2 more. How could you go wrong with $120 rods that perform...

Talking Re: saltwater fly box

I'd go with the Cliff myself except that after looking one over I made my own. I recyled an unused pistol case I got in a transaction, traced out the outline of closed cell foam from the foam that...

Re: BEASTY trout on the Madison - Video

I especially appreciated the background music- Dave Gruisin's Mountain Dance? Different version but superb piano. Loved that Madison as well. My river of Sighs.

Re: Questions and thoughts on putting studs in wading boots

I recently spoke to a frequent guide Flyfisherman in San Diego who has access to all kinds of studs. His preference was the "aluminum" studs that "really grip better than the carbide ones" perhaps...

I hurt mine on a canoe double hauling for a good part of 8 hours in 12-18 knot winds. After some NSAIDS I did the same for 6 hours the next day caught more fish but surely aggravated my injury which...

Re: Waterworks Lamson reels - experiences?

Re: Redfishing, a little help?

Or sometimes you can stalk all day and not see a thing like a pro I fished with last June. I switched to blind casting and produced when the water was murky. Stealth was essential and the ability to...
