If I am day tripping close to home, I usually use a Subaru for the gas mileage, but if it is for multiple nights or on super nasty mountain roads then I opt for the Toyota Tacoma and 6X12 converted...

I generally go when the temperature is in the 30s. If I get freezing guides, I use a little Stanleys paste or chapstick in a pinch. I also try to fish with a set amount of line out.

Beautiful pictures! One of the very few places to fish in the winter time here in Southeast Idaho so it does get some congestion at times.
