Re: Advice: 5wt vs 6wt for wind, big waters & boats?

Dennis, I give credit to the use of the word “payload“ to you.
I have been reading your posts about two hand rods and thought that it perfectly describes how heavy flies we can throw a fly...

Re: Advice: 5wt vs 6wt for wind, big waters & boats?

Being inspired by the comment below, I would consider getting the 5 wt one that your friend offered, and with the rest of the fund, probably about 350 or so, get a 6 wt rod. If you can get a Winston...

Re: Advice: 5wt vs 6wt for wind, big waters & boats?

My 2cent for you is that I do not see the point of getting 4 and 5 wts, given that the feel and payload aren’t going to be not much different, although each company rod can be different. I would not...

Re: Still one of my fav 2-hander fly fishing video's: North Umpqua and dry flies

Over this summer I found myself bitten by a spey bug and have been lurking a speywebsite and ebay trying to find a couple of two hand rods. I have a strong feeling that maybe I am going to leave my...

Re: Colorado Suggestions?

Hello Razz,
I am not sure what part of NM you may stay, but I would recommend the San Juan river near Navajo dam. I had a trip there this summer and had a great time.

Re: 'lil fly girl

Thanks for the photos and the innovative ideas to draw your kids to fly fishing. I think I am going to try Tankara for my kids. If they like it, it will be my catch of the day.

Re: Drop a Dime?

I would have done the same thing as well. Sadly in my neck of woods, even if many of anglers have reported ongoing poachings, seldom we have heard that a fine has been issued to poachers. I have seen...

Re: A switch outfit for trout?

I have been reading extensively about a switch rod set up for trout and bass. So my question is what is your verdict for the switch rod set up for trout?
I have been lurking SpeyRod forum and found...

Re: Sage Vantage compared to TFO TiCrX

I don’t know about Sage rods. But I cast several times with TFO TiCrx. Simply put, it shoots like a cannon. It is an ultra fast rod. A guy who showed me easily shoot to the end of the fly line. ...

Re: If You Use a Two Hand Rod;

Ard, I have been lurking at the Spey forum for a while and it appears that a large number of members suggest for a 4 wt for trout. So I am leaning toward that. But you seem to suggest that 6 or 7...
