Great Day in the Smokies

Went out fishing with my father today guided by Ian from R&R. Things were a little slow before lunch but finished with lots of action.

I'm not sure if it really matters but why take a chance. I always stick with muted like wheat,green etc.

I have a TFO switch as well as may single handed rods. I mostly fish sttelhead on the SR Lower Fly Zone and IMO it's too much rod for flip casting.

3&5 You can't own just 1. Cabelas offers a lot of good inexpensive 5 weight rod and reels. LL Bean has a great 3 weight rod and reel outfit (Streamlight) for $159.

Vest when I'm fishing in warm weather with light clothing.

When I'm fishing in cold weather with several layers on I find it's easier to access my gear with a chest pack.

I'm in the market for a new steelhead reel, I'm torn between and Orvis Battenkill and a Lamson Guru.
I may be opening a can of worms but I'm interested in everyones opinion.

I have an LL Bean Streanlight 3wt with Streamlight LA reel. Bought it after reading several great review on the equipment. Never regreted it a minute.

I live in North Eastern NY. I get great brown fishing on the West Branch Ausable in Lake Placid, the river runs right through the parking lot of Whiteface Mt. where the 80 Olympics were.

I'm lucky tolive just 4 hours from a great steelhead river. Even the small ones put on a show when they strip your line to the backing and flop out of the water.
