Re: Which Reel?
Oops... Whe I originally read the post I thought you asked about lines.....:o
I'd go with a 10wt reel. If you would find yourself in a pinch in needing for say, an 8 wt line you could put it on...

Re: Which Reel?
Hey john2snake,
Welcome to the forum! I've never used the rod you bought, but if you put a lighter line on than recommended (such as the 8wt line with a 10wt rod) the action of the rod will get...

Re: 2wt line on 0 wt reel?
You can, but you won't have much/any backing on it. You might also want to consider balancing issues of the rod, if the reel is exceptionally light.
If you do opt for a new reel I have an Allen...

Re: Woe to Ye Who Tread the Warm Waters
I think seeing a black snake would creep me out even worse. Every time I see one around here they're 5-6 feet long. I don't mind snakes, but one as long as I am tall does give me pause.

Re: Most embarrassing moments?
It must have been the second or third time I was out with my fly gear. I took the family to the lake and while they wandered around, I was going to get some practice casting in. Of course I forgot...

Re: Woe to Ye Who Tread the Warm Waters
At the end of summer I was walking along the bank of the local trout stream and saw a few rising on the far bank, about 10 yards. I walked to the edge of the bank and noticed something slip beneath...

Re: Why Isn't Flyfishing Growing in Popularity?
I think another thing to consider is that all markets fluctuate. Nascar is expanding now, but where will it be in 5 years? 10 years?
Even if fly fishing is declining (and I have read a few...

Re: My secret river
That looks like some great water there. I'm surprised how clear it is in the pics, it must be like gin on some days.
Beautiful dog, btw. I've always like those. We had a mix of one when I was a...

Re: Something Neat
Very cool. I've been wondering how the Go Pro's were; most people I know use the Kodak Playsport.

Re: Big bass are frustrating me
And I've seen them get spooked on a 9' leader and a cast that barely rippled the water. :)
All depends on the waters and the fishing pressure that they receive. But I do agree, don't overkill...

Re: Big bass are frustrating me
Your casting is probably spooking the fish, or at least putting him on his guard. make you cast and let the fly sit.... minutes if you have to. Let him swim off and come back. He needs to calm down...

Re: What kind of glasses for night fishing?
I wear glasses, so I'm covered there. But why the yellow tint? Where I night fish, it's pitch black so I'm not sure if any tinting would be necessary. I would go for a nice pair of safety glasses.

Re: Hot, hot,hot!
It's the same here on the East Coast. It's hotter that hell and it feels like I'm breathing throw a wet towel.
