Re: NRX LP 5 weight - opinions?

I have the 9' 5 wt NRX LP and it is an excellent dry fly rod. However, if I anticipate throwing nymphs or streamers I take a different rod. The NRX LP feels very light in hand, and is a joy to fish...

Re: Best Rod For Roll Casting

I would like to reiterate the idea that the line is very important for easy roll casting. I use a SA VPT taper which has a long front taper (similar to the Triangle Taper), and it roll casts much...

Re: Cortland Competition Nymph Rod

How silly of me not to have stated that it is a 4 wt rod. I have now edited the original post. Sorry.

Cortland Competition Nymph Rod

I have a 4 piece 4 wt 10'6" Cortland Competition Nymph Rod for sale. It has only been fished 3 days. It turns out that this rod overlaps so many other rods that I have that it seldom gets fished....

Re: SA VPT Fly Line

I purchased a couple of Airflo Supple Tactical lines and was disappointed by how they floated..or rather DIDN'T float. I have given up using them for fishing dry flies, and only use them on my nymph...

Re: Looking for a reel recommendation

Take a look at the new Lamson Liquid, which is the reel that replaced the Konic. The 9/10 wt reel lists for less than $130. I have the 8 wt reel and I am very pleased with it.

Re: Fenwick Aetos Fly Rod

A friend of mine bought his son a 9' 5 wt Aetos to take on a recent fishing trip. Although I didn't have a chance to fish it extensively, I did cast it on the water for a few minutes. It is a fast...

Re: Euro nymphing/tight line nymphing line???

One of my guide friends uses a WF fly line that has been reversed so the thin running line serves as the fly line. He argues that the line is rarely used, and why should he pay $75 for a piece of...

Re: SA VPT Fly Line

I have this line, and I love it. It is a true line weight, and has a long front taper that makes the line roll cast like a dream. This is not a line that handles streamers or big nymphs well, but it...

Re: Line for the NRX LP

The GPX would be too heavy, in my opinion. On my NRX LP i have a true line weight 4: the SA Mastery VPT. This line loads the rod well and has a great deal of delicacy, given its long front taper.

Re: Sage ESN 11ft 3wt

This is a fantastic nymph rod. I have fished it for a few hours, and If I weren't an old poor retired guy, I would be on this in a heartbeat. Great rod; great price.

Somebody's going to get a deal...

Thanks to all who offered help and advice. I am now fishing the 10'6" 4 wt Cortland Competition Nymph rod, and the 11' Cabela's CZN 4 wt. I like them both, but I think that soon I will have to choose...

I have this Cortland nymph rod, too, and I find it to be very versatile. With it, I Czech nymph, indicator nymph, throw streamers and even cast small dry flies if I come across a hatch. I also have...

Re: Floating Line for New 5wt Legend Elite?

My Legend Elite doesn't seem to like heavier lines like the GPX or Gold. It seems to like true weight lines.

Re: WTB: Euro nymphing rod

Kyle

The Zenith was an excellent rod, and I'd love to buy it, but I suspect that it is a little out of my price range--even when used. As I recall, yours was in pristine condition and should...

Re: Loomis NRX LP 9' 5wt, recommended line

Re: Smaller reel than rod size

I have always believed that lighter is better when matching a reel to a rod, so I try to use as small and light a reel as I can. I agree that having enough backing for the species you are targeting...

Yes the rod is still available. Are there any hassles (e.g., taxes, customs, other) with shipping a rod to Canada?
