Update I had no problem on American anyway using black canyon pack as my personal item in addition to a regular carry on item.

If my son hadn't lost my hero 3 silver on a ski trip (learn what tethers are and use them) I would still have that model. As it were I now have a hero 4 silver. $300 for a h4 silver is a good deal....

Think I'd try a spinning reel on a fly rod versus the other way around. However I've tried neither.

A lot of people use one of those vinyl covered hand weights 1 or 2 lbs and have good luck with them. If you lose it got to Walmart and get another for a couple of buck.

It's a totally different color but I like the spindrift color #107 Mogit for killer bugs. It's a darker grey/brown and I think it looks especially good tied with black thread. YMMV. I'd send samples...
