Re: Mistakes....

I can relate to that one. It took a long time for me to figure many things out and I've posted about the value of observation many times. Something I've also mentioned quite often is that when you...

Re: Big Brown Trout

Welcome to the forum,

I'm hoping that you didn't join just to show us your fish, this is a great place to share what you know and to ask questions about what you don't. That is a nice fish by the...

Re: Take the pic or land the fish….

Hi Mike,

The picture of the fish being held by the tail is looking like a really nice fish. When I am working as a guide to others I very seldom fish so I take pictures of people catching fish. If...

Re: Rainbow Trout Pics

Hi Everyone,

I'm having a typical fall season here, catching quite a few fish with many in the 15 - 18" size range. The truly big ones remain to be found. I think the fish in the picture was...

Re: Leeches

We have lots of leech's here and I make my Sculpins long and use dark gray bunny strips so they look like a leech or Sculpin either or. They catch a lot of fish for me.

Re: Mini sculpin

I'll probably do another step by step for the big ones. I thought about how I've been making them and changed a few things to make it easier. The result is a fatter fly and they are more resilient....

Re: Groupon-style deal for silk fly lines

I would rather see people find such things on their own as opposed to having them linked here.

Sorry but this is your first post to this forum and you are already offline as I read the thread not...

Re: Mini sculpin

Now that's the ticket Mallard! Did you use a regular hook or do you have a stinger hidden in that bunny fur?

Great looking Sculppy.

Re: Rain,rain,rain.....

We had it here just 2 years ago Fred, the difference is there were no people around the rivers or big cities but man did it rain. I remember well because I had a fellow scheduled to fish for trout &...

Re: High End Fly Rod Suggestions

I'm sure we'll get around to talking, things have calmed down some but there are still people coming to fish. I have to find the best trout spots by the 26th and it's not as easy as it would seem....

Re: High End Fly Rod Suggestions

Always good to see a thread on Auto Pilot here :)

I was thinking about a Hardy setup but other than the Marksman rods I have no experience with the other new offerings.

Re: H.R.5204: Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Modernization Act of 2014

This is just one of those things you all should take the time to contact your representatives about. It's easy, use the links and if you want just copy and paste what I said :)

Re: High End Fly Rod Suggestions

I'm a matched set kind of guy, if you're buying a Sage reel why not pair it to one of their best rods? However Winston's are very good rods and I don't really mean to sway you away.

Welcome to the...

Re: Albright...

I would just get it fixed as long as the cost doesn't run ridiculously high. We tend to become attached to tackle items regardless of their original price tag. The only rod I ever failed to have...

Re: Need Advice About Single-Hand Spey

Good question to which I don't have a solid answer; I can lob a fly with any of my rods but that's just me. I would venture to guess that if you are not fishing great distances or huge weighted flies...

Re: First morning in Michigan.

You gotta take the good with the bad Mike and you sound positive. I remember going to the Salmon River in NY (560 mile round trip) and getting Skunked more than once. One time we took a lodge for 5...

Re: Need Advice About Single-Hand Spey

Hi Rich,

I moved the thread to Spey Casting Technique & etc.

Unless you are looking to fish really big water; no you do not need a dedicated Spey or Switch rod to execute the basic casts. I...

Re: High Uintas, UT - 09/12/2014

Hi Joe,

I'll tell you what, your pictures are too good! Too crisp, just amazing shots. My day today was sorta like your trip, I went way up a beautiful creek to areas that screamed big trout and...

Good thread topic Wayne!

I've packed, biked and boated tents all over the country. Slept in the truck, lodges, and cabins but one of these days I'm going to run into a deal on a small camper with...
