I like the Simms Guide boots, They have lasted longer than my previous Korkers. I like the feel of them and with the studs they works on slippery rocks.

For me it is getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city. I enjoy the quiet and being in nature. Catching fish is just and extra added benefit.

I would stay away from old rods, unless you want to work on how to restore old rods. I would pick up and inexpensive blank from Anglers Roost and build it out. Or pay more money and talk to Dennis...

I think the 5000 should be the right size for the 6wt, but if you don't like the look or feel of it go with something else. I would look at other brands as I don't think the 4000 is big enough.

Everything is really skinny now, West Fork of San Gabriel is no too bad. There are a few streams in San Bernadino mountains. I would also suggest Upper Kern above Kernville.
