Re: Farmington or Beaverkill?

Thanks!

Yeah, I meant the Beaverkill. No, I don't live in CT. Both rivers are a looooong haul for me so I'll only be able to hit one once this year and will likely get a guide as it would be my...

Re: Swift River Massachusetts

The Swift is a two hour ride for me as well. Unfortunately I don't make it out to that part of the state often enough so I've not been able to explore other options as much as I would have liked. ...

Farmington or Beaverkill?

If you had to choose between only one, which would you choose?

Hoping to get to both this year but not sure, plus I know I won't be able to get a guide for both or maybe even either and having...

Re: Deerfield parking ?

I've never fished the Deerfield but would very much like to change that, and soon.

Anyone have any general advice? Is it wadeable? I seem to be finding videos mostly of people in drift boats.

Re: Beginner looking to fish in the city

That is a handy book indeed.

He mentions a brook near the Swift that's off the beaten path. I poked my head back there and it seemed like it might have been a bit of a hike and I didn't like...

Re: suggestions for 3-4 day back country trip

Interesting discussion, I'd love to hear more. I feel like I only find car camping spots on the east coast, or hear of camp spots that fill up very quickly and are six hours away, so any suggestions...

Re: Steelhead fishing questions--heading home to NYC for holidays

I can only answer #4 and the answer is yes. Just don't get to aggressive.

Re: Need a Good Salmon River Guide

PM sent. You'll hook in to a lot but it's easy to mis-hook just due to the number of fish in the river so you need to be ready to break a line.

I saw lots of folks in the center of Pulaski...

Re: Need a Good Salmon River Guide

I just went to the Salmon River last month. I didn't see anyone using dries, but heard that streamers work well. If you're nymphing and wading, which is what I did, my advice would be you don't...

Re: Squannacook report

Glad to hear you had a good time! I believe the Nissitissit was just stocked, that should be pretty close if the Squannacook is nearby.

Re: NY's Salmon River in October

Bah I'm going up on the 10th and was hoping to catch a King. I've never gone for them before and was under the impression early/mid October was still OK.

Suggested blogs or sites?

Thought I'd see what blogs (if any) folks on here read.

I'm not sure if all of these are active any more but I read:

Brooklyn Urban Anglers Association
Surfland Fishing...

Re: Salmon river

Nice! I was planning to go up there the first or second week of October, think the salmon will still be around? I've heard later in October they're pretty much gone.

Any guides you folks would...

I've not seen brookies but I can confirm the browns as I caught a good one when I was there recently. Fought well too.

Re: Swift River Massachusetts

Hahah yeah when I was out there the first night it was getting dark and I was trying to put a small midge on. Fiddled with it for fifteen minutes before giving up.

What do you mean by make sure...

Re: Swift River Massachusetts

They were hitting little sulfer midges when I was there. I saw people nymphing the bubbler arm but I didn't see anyone catch anything, nor did I see any fish in it.

If you go below the bridge,...

Re: Beginner looking to fish in the city

I'm in the same neck of the woods. If you have a bike, you may find some places to explore past the end of the Minuteman bike trail. There are a couple of brooks right at the end that connect to a...

Re: Beaverkill this time of year?

I'm in Boston... I think I might just go to p-town and sit on a beach instead. Or maybe find some smaller streams that are nearer by.

Beaverkill this time of year?

I've never done the Beaverkill. Around me, it is hot and muggy and I'm thinking fish aren't too active. Is that the case? Tempted to haul out there next week but it's quite a bit of a drive for me.
