Re: A couple rods popular for sale

With all due respect, are these folks legit? I've not seen this site before and there's a couple things I'm looking at. I'm pretty sure if you guys post it up, it's OK. Just ease my mind.

Re: SoCal Surf @ El Segundo

Thanks for the info. Did a bunch of reading and think I've got a plan. However, as with any plan, reality and schedulers have a way of screwing it up. The powers that run my life have now decided...

Re: Two Free Kindle Books for Today

Thanks for putting these up! I just got done reading the one by John Dyer about South Africa. Good Lord, I laughed so much at his stories I think the guy sitting next to me on the airplane must...

Re: Question: dry flies, wet flies, nymphs or streamers

While I'm not able to answer your question, I have to commend you for taking time to teach her. Hopefully she'll catch on enough to enjoy this sport. What a self confidence booster that would be. ...

SoCal Surf @ El Segundo

I may have a couple weekends free next month to play on the sand. Was down there this past Sat and walked from the hotel. I go straight down Grand. Looked pretty nice and was ticked that I didn't...

Re: Saltwater Fly Rod

I have a TFO ticrx in a 9. Good stick for @ $250. It's a bit on the heavy side, but darn near indestructible. I like it.

Re: How many 8 weights are enough?

My 8wt sw rod that I am comfortable with is a TFO TICRX 8. I like it. I travel a lot. My back up is......TFO TICRX 8. I don't want a change up if something happens while I'm on the road.

Re: tippet knots

The wonderful "wind knot" is a problem for everyone. As you get more experience you'll have fewer, but chit happens,

Don't ever try to fish with one. Change out the tippet. If it hasn't...

Re: Colorado Walleye questions

OK. I live in Oklahoma, not exactly the walleye destination one would think of, but we have lakes that have some good populations of the tasty critters. I go early, before sunrise, or late in the...

Re: Airlines and fly rods

I have a zillion miles on Delta, so I usually get a big seat up front. Good Lord, that makes life SO much better.

If they offer early boarding for a few bucks more, do it. You'll have...

Re: Airlines and fly rods

Round trip is usually best for pricing.

Try and get the first available flight of the day. They usually are on time and you'll have back-ups available if something goes wrong.

Get to the...

Re: Set-Up For Bluegills

A good bluegill rod (and a good anything stick) for a decent price is a Cabela's Three Forks. I got a 3 and liked it enough to pick up a 5. Nice rods and easy on the wallet.

Re: Flats flies assistance please

I use buck tails for CC's and have done well with bones. I also tie shrimpy looking patterns with craft fur and they work also. Just keep them in proportion to the hook size you're using and you'll...

Re: Pfleuger Medalist Sticky

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this, but I just picked up 2 1492's. New in the box, haven't even lined them up yet. Are they any good? They're the foreign made ones. $10 a piece and I couldn't pass...

Re: Embracing The Future

I think by far the best thing for fishing has been the interwebs. I knew NOTHING about bonefish when I found out I would be going to work in an area that had them. I did my homework and at least...

I just cut the fingers off an old pair of gloves. Works well as long as you're not wearing them at the time.

Re: Starting to tie fiber baitfish patterns....help!

I'll jump in on the EP fiber. Good stuff and makes excellent baitfish patterns. Yeah, it may be a little pricey, but a little goes a long way. Typical mistake is to use too much. (I had that...

Re: Got my first vise in the mail today

That's a very nice vise. (Oooh, I'm a poet) You're going to be glad you went with the rotary deal to start. They're extremely versatile and make tying much easier. It's better to have it and not...

Re: Tanago

I was an expert at that. The difference is, I could catch those size bass on 5/0 jigs. It's why I quit fishing bass tournys.

Re: Help with carry on rod tubes

I carry 2 tubes strapped together with velcro. United and American count it as one carry-on. Delta and SWA didn't.

I have a way to attach them to my regular roll-aboard so it looks like one, but...
