Re: Who ever said fly fishing was hard!

Hey rookie! Happy to hear you're having fun with the fly rod. I too find myself normally producing more fish on a fly, and I just simply enjoy fly casting.

I will say use what you got though and...

Who ever said fly fishing was hard!

So, to start this off I primarily fly fish but that doesn't mean I won't break out the spinning rod from time to time.

I have been tying up some jigs with great success and had been hearing some...

Neat video. Fly style presentation with spinning rod.

Just saw this browsing through hook shot episodes I've missed. Seems like a pretty killer tactic to me. Interesting to see the mix of styles to make it work for them.

..... I will never be good...

Re: What have you been tying today?

Seeing lv2nymph's caddis emerger's inspired me. However all I had was cdc puffs. So here's my variation, turned out kinda half way between those and a Henry's fork caddis. Only had some 16's left in...

Re: Building a rod, full kit vs blank

I just built my first rod and went with the Epic all in one kit. I had all the same questions as you about componentry and what not. Gotta say the kit was really nice to break the ice, but that being...

Re: Any made in the US companies match Orvis' warranty??

The one rod I have broken I didn't even turn in for warranty.
Tfo finesse: $180... I think.

Bought it when I moved to elko Nevada in 2007, broke it in 2012? I think. So that's roughly 36...

Re: Bitterroot Nets

I just looked at the prices on the stream net with magnet...

189$?!?!

In today's custom fly fishing market I expected them to be significantly more money than that!

Stupid Christmas list...

Re: First lesson learned

I bought the reel seat laser level from mudhole. Thought it would work better than it does. It's good for roughing everything in but sighting down the blank for final tweaking is still needed

Well, got my epic in the mail. Like my 10 month old nephew and the dvd's on the shelf I just couldn't leave it alone. Spent last night and got the reel seat and grip on A ok. Patted myself on the...

Re: What lines do you favor?

It makes sense. With your faster sink at the end it seems like it would have a steady ramp in your line. When you retrieve it back in, especially while bank fishing, it would follow the bottom more...

Re: What lines do you favor?

Fiskebein, I primarily use the rio camo lux something intermediate line with the clear tip. There are a lot of lines I'm kind of picky about.... But out of the 5 or 6 intermediate lines I've owned I...
