7'6 CT 3wt - will cast heavy flies in a wind (size weighted wooly buggers) and is delicate in the calm....win win all round. I have one, use it regularly!

I've fished my 8'6 5wt CT with heavily weighted buggers (lead wrapped body, brass bead) in size 8.
It handled them well, and I was casting them across as stiff wind....

No idea about the sink tip...

I dont often tie dry flies...

But when i do, I tie them like this.

Hackles are a combination of Collins Brown (from a grade 3 cape) and Whiting american Bugger hackles in Grizzly, from a bugger pack.

Respectfully, strung saddle has fibers much too long.

If anything, you should look for india rooster capes much shorter fibers than strung saddle, IMO.

Or, as you mentioned, the Whiting packs....
