Re: A Beginners Journal

I like this thread man. I would definitely try fishing that creek pool. You can be surprised by what lives in the pools of tiny creeks. Fish it just like you fish the other places.

If the water...

Re: warmwater pics

I think this is the prettiest little fish I have ever caught. Longear sunfish, southern Ohio. White cat fur Hare's Ear dropped behind a foam spider, took the nymph.

Re: What have you been tying today?

I got tired of always losing and damaging flies at the creek, so I got some cheap Eagle Claw hooks at Wally World and tied up some bugger things on them. These are going in my warm-water creek box. ...

Re: Wristwatches What You Wear And Why

My general-outdoors-pursuits watch of choice is the Timex Weekender. 30 bucks, good looking, water resistant, indiglo, minimal, analog, takes a beating. Love it. Would/will replace for sure.

I got my TFO Pro 2 on sale for under $100. It was my first nicer rod and it's a great value, great warranty too.

Re: So, what fish deserve more respect?

Well so far, the suckers in my local creek have proved to be the most selective fish I've targeted!

Re: warmwater pics

Finally got in to some real fish on the Featherlight! It's weird; like a lightswitch, all the fish are back in the creek. My favorite time of year....

Re: Monster on my 2wt

I do believe that is not a koi but a regular ol' goldfish. On another forum I'm on, a guy caught a goldfish out of a river even bigger than that. When they say a goldfish can grow to the size of...

Re: First Topwater 'gills this year!

Nice!

I like the idea of tying a piece of foam on top of a bugger to make it a topwater. I want to try this!

Re: warmwater pics

I believe it was actually some sort of shiner! Which is cool because I've caught tons of chubs but never a shiner before. Those big scales are the giveaway. I caught a little creek chub after and...

I really thought the bass and sunfish would be awake in the creek by now, but I haven't found them yet....

Ah gotcha. Yeah I could see that, but I'm still going to give it a shot. My fishing guru (who will be forever missed… he retired and moved to Florida to fish the salt flats all the time!) would...

Re: Cortland mini-head kit!

Grtlksmarlin, your concerns are valid and your logic seems sound. It sounds like you don't like the concept of sink tips at all? Around here in the warm water rivers I fish, sink tips are widely...

Cortland mini-head kit!

Hey y'all,
I just got a Cortland mini-head kit from Bass Pro. It is 12 ft of type VI (6 in per sec) sinking line and 4 braided loops for creating your own loop-on sink tips. I plan to use this on...

Re: Your State Fly Pattern

I think here in Ohio, where bass, hybrids, and saugeye reign supreme, the CLOUSER MINNOW is probably the most ubiquitous fish catcher.

Re: Headlamps?

I have heard that the red light wavelength disappears quickly in water, hence some red fishing lines that are on the market.
Anyways, the red light isn't too bright on the Storm; it is just enough...
