Re: 2013 5-Weight Shootout

Re: 2013 5-Weight Shootout

I think shootouts are gong shows and this is why. Rods scored differently in the casting categories than they did two years ago. Are we to think they all the sudden quit casting as well? I've been...

Re: New gear vs old

The plain truth is that the rods being made right now are the best that have ever been made from a measurable technological standpoint (weight, swing-weight, dampening performance etc). A $200 today...

Re: Cabelas CGT glass rods ?

I have several and the more i cast them the more i dont like them. I like the idea and the spigot ferrule was a cool feature...but none of them cast great. The 7' 4/5 for example has a floppy tip...

Re: TFO BVK - One sweet rod!

I like them in the bigger line weights. The trout weights are a bit too stiff for my liking and i tend to break a lot of tippet with them. I also wish they would do a better job on the fit and...

Re: rods, east and west

The reason i often don't find 9x5 rods great at anything is because i think the rod designers make them to be the universal trout rod. Universal means a lot of things. Drys, streamers, nymphs, sink...

Re: Silly question about bamboo rods

Great advice above. The Orvis rods while nice and fish-able, don't sell for much on the used market for whatever reason. I regularly see these rods in their most popular configurations in the $500...

Re: Has anyone ever cast a Winston WT in the 9 foot range?

I ended up not buying the rod due to the fact i couldn't cast it first. While its true that longer rods tend to be slower, the WT series is odd in the fact that my 8.5x4 is more crisp than my 8x4 or...

Re: Winston GVX on sale everywhere
