I have a quick question for those of you who are familiar with this type of reel, could I reverse the pawls to change the retrieve side? Will this cause any harm to the reel? I just can't get used to...

Thanks for the info. While I am still searching, I think I may settle on an 8ft or smaller, 4wt rod. Meanwhile, I've been reeling in imaginary fish in front of the the tv.

Decent price for Orvis CFO?

A local shop is selling a new display model CFO for $150. I am not sure of the exact model, but it seems to be either 3,4,5 weight. Is this a decent price? The shop also has a 7' something, lamiglas...

thanks for the information and tips.

I think I will stick with 4x, 5x, & 6x leaders. I just need to start using loop to loop connections for easy switches.

Mosca, when I asked about leader size I was in fact referring to "3x, 4x..." and not length.

I guess what I am asking is if I can use a 4x or an 8x leader on my 6...

I ended up cutting off the complete leader and tying on an 8" piece of 30lb mono followed by one of Joni's furled leaders.

My new leader is as follows:

fly line-nail knot-30lb mono-perfection...

Waterhouse Lake in Tuolumne County, California

Has anyone had any success fishing Waterhouse Lake? I will be hiking/camping the area during the second week of August. What should I expect? Are there any other fishing areas in the general vicinity?

One last question, what is the proper way to remove a leader from a fly line? My leader is connected to my fly line using a nail knot, I am not sure if I should cut the leader, or the fly line.

thanks for the info guys. A couple of months ago I added about 1.5 feet of tippet to this same leader. I am proud to say that I was able to tie a bloodknot while fishing, though I doubt I can do it...
