Re: Backup rod for Belize trip: 10 or 12? Which one?

I agree 100% with this. No need to invest in a 12 wt until you decide to do a tarpon tarpon to the Keys or another destination known for 100lbs+ ****..

Re: Small Stream Dry Fly Rod

I've looked at both of these rods extensively and have had a hard time choosing between the 2. Anybody know what the advantages/disadvantages of the extra 2" would be? What does the 7' do better...

Re: Small Stream Dry Fly Rod

Wow, lots of great info, thanks guys!

What I'm leaning toward doing is going with the Scott F2 7'3wt. The streams, or to be more specific, creeks that I'm fishing regularly close to my house...

Re: Backup rod for Belize trip: 10 or 12? Which one?

IMO this is an easy decision...10wt. If you didn't already have an 8wt and were asking which rod to buy to have 1 all purpose salt rod I'd push you in the direction of a 9wt. Since you already have...

Re: Small Stream Dry Fly Rod

All great recommendations, thanks guys! Has anyone seen the Confluence film Connect? In the first segment Jim Bartschi, Scott fly rod designer, is fishing for yamame in Japan. Was curious if...

Small Stream Dry Fly Rod

Hey Guys,

Been doing a lot of small stream dry fly fishing this summer, since I hung up the golf clubs. The only trout rod I currently have is a 9'5wt Scott Radian. It's an amazing all around...

Re: Sage 2016

My guess is that X will be similar to ONE, but have a softer tip to open the gap a bit between it and Method. Just in relation to the 9' 5wt, because that is the only one I tried, and it seems like...

Has anyone ordered from GLF's site recently? Is this stuff still available? Doesn't look like it's been updated in a while.

Re: I have $350 to spend...which rod?

Being a Scott fan I'd def recommend you try out the A4. I have to disagree with the poster above in saying it's almost as sweet as the Radian though. I own both and they are nothing alike, but both...

Re: Fly line for Scott Meridian 8#

Just like S&S said, you can't go wrong with the Rio Permit line. I selected it for my 9wt NRX and couldn't be happier. It is aggressive enough to get through the wind, yet subtle enough to not...

Re: Fly line for Scott Meridian 8#

IMO I'd go with 2 lines. For heavy wind conditions the AirFlo Bruce Chard Tropical Punch & for calmer conditions the Rio Permit. If you only want 1 line either of these would make a fine purchase.

Re: Salt rod to do all?

Exactly what S&S said. I was in this same spot last year. I wanted a rod to use for both bonefish & permit. At the advice of S&S and the guide I hired I ended up going with a 9wt. IMO the 8wt is...
