nice ! I have better luck using an octopus hook as the trailer. it shortens the fly a bit. more strikes/hook ups :shades: for me. I clip the front hook as well for ease of release.

very true! I tie a D-rib/hotwire w/ herl collar and glass bead head.ad some sparkle emerger yarn for a budding wing, perhaps a trailing shuck and u have that life stage covered too....

Brooks and browns today...

Dropped to 17 last night. Started a little later but still had some rod icing. Had to break some thin shelf ice w/ a long,sturdy branch to drift one spot effectively. Lite bite on sucker spawn...

ask a nearby fly shop about what hatches when on each stream. just tie on an emerger and 18" or so of 5X and then the second fly. make sure its' adequately weighted to get them down deep.

throw junk for numbers, eggs, sucker spawn, san juans. I really like the guides choice hares ear,14 and 16. try small clousers and slump busters ,size 12,s , to resurrect the bite from time to time....

looks good. perhaps tied on a shank to get the hook rearward to get those short strikers??? works on my clousers. I make my own shanks btw from spool wire.

I fish SW PA, MD and WV for trout in the Alleghenies. fish for steelhead on erie tribs. let me know if anyone is interested in going along. split driving costs and hit that water !!!!!!!
