for tarpon you will most likely need a boat and/ or guide. but if you want, on the island here you can go to Palmetto Dunes, They will rent boats or a guide and you can catch lots of reds and 25lbs...

i did lawn cast the sage and it was good, but a little slower. I do think the slower action would help you learn to cast and feel the rod. good luck!

I live on the coast and all of my rods are 4 piece and I have not had any trouble. Plus with the 4 piece they are always in the car with me, then I can stop anytime I see a new area to try.

I use a loop on all my leaders and I have had no problems. I usually carry a couple leaders with me. One is mono and the other florocarbon. I can easily change leaders for what I need at the time....
