I own a house in Blue Valley Acres, north of Silverthorne. I currently have tenants in it, but they are planning on leaving soon. They are on a month to month right now.

Rental of the house...

Re: Spring runoff on the Blue.

There will be runoff and it will be tough to fish the tailwater. It doesn't get muddy, or blown out per se, but it will be tough fishing with higher flows.

The past 2 years there hasn't been much...

Re: A strange question to ask

I don't mean to sound uncaring or insensitive, but if you can't afford to do it, then don't do it.

Fly fishing can be an expensive hobby and the important word here is hobby. You shouldn't be...

Re: 10' 4wt recomendations

I use a Scott A4 10' 4 wt and it meets all your criteria.

It's an excellent Czech nymph rod and was surprisingly good at throwing dries and even heavy nymph rigs.

The 10' length lets you roll...

Re: Orvis Warranty/Turn Around Time?

6-8 weeks.

I called at 8 weeks and they ended up sending me a new rod since I had already waited 8 weeks and they were still waiting on parts to fix my rod.

Re: Trout beads or egg fly? Why? If you use them.

I noticed you're in Fountain...

In CO, I've had great success using peg eggs. They work great in any water where spawning fish are around. Dream Stream, Ark, Blue, Pan, etc...

Maybe it's a...

Re: 4 weeks and still no Helios!!!

Orvis quotes 4-6 weeks. I called at 4 weeks, and was told I had to wait another 2 weeks to see what was up.

I called last week (6 weeks on the nose) and they said they were waiting for materials...

Re: Orvis warranty

It's still with orvis...they called today to say that they are waiting on parts and since it's been 6 weeks, they are just going to send me a Helios 2 instead of having me wait any longer!

Re: Orvis warranty

My Helios was sent back 6 weeks ago...still waiting on it's return...

Let that be a lesson to you all! Don't break your rod in the spring if you want to fish in the summer!

Re: Camping around the Frying Pan River?

Legend has it two prospectors or settlers were mining and trapping beavers in the area when they were ambushed by Indians. One got away and ran for help, but when he came back, his buddy was no...

I'm headed to MT the week of March 25th and I'm hoping to get on the water a day or two. Can anybody point me in the right direction? I've never fished the area and it looks like there's lots of...

Re: Winter fishing, could use some help

That pic was from this weekend. Fish are starting to build redds and the males have colored up and are developing a hook jaw.

This is pretty normal for the Ark, around this time, the fish are...

Re: Winter fishing, could use some help

Why wait! Pueblo isn't that far away. You can be on the water in about an hour!

Not that I like seeing lots of people down there. (This weekend was super busy.) But if you're jonesing, this is...

Re: Winter fishing, could use some help

Head to Pueblo. If you're willing to drive the 2 hours to Silverthorne, a trip to Pueblo will be better fishing. The Blue has gotten real technical and the fishing has gotten worse over the years. ...

Re: Vail Quick Access

You can. And it's actually quite good right at the water treatment plant. Warm water is pumped out and it stays ice free. Lots of fish will congregate here in the winter.

Depending on the...

Re: Summit County CO

Do this!

If you guys are out there the same time, split the gas money and head to the Pan. Much easier access since it's drive in, but get up early and make the drive! A picture of a 20 lb...

Re: Summit County CO

Everything in that post still applies. This tailwater doesn't really see any big hatches and your basic midges will work all year long.

March is the snowiest month, so dress warmly and be...

Re: whats fishing in CO right now?

Any Tailwater will fish well. With all the new snow in the high country, it shouldn't be as busy as it was earlier this winter. Even better, if the forecast calls for more snow, head up to a...
