Re: Boot for wet wading?

I wear my regular wading boots (Patagonia Ultralights) with a 3 mm neoprene sock, which is the same as my waders. Fits well and still offers all the traction, protection and support.

Re: 8wt BVK line weight

I agree with your overlined, short head suggestion. I've got my 8wt BVK lined with 8 wt. Rio Outbound Short. Seems a good match - at least for my casting style and ability.

Re: Which New Wading Boot?

Just finished my first trip with my Patagonia ultralights (felt). Four days of hiking and wading. Found them to be very comfortable and supportive. Plenty of traction in the water and the...

Re: Beginner Waders

Redington offers a pretty good bang for the buck and they have excellent customer service to back them up.

Re: Furled leaders - pros & cons. any1 use them?

I appreciate the technical information s&s provides too, but I must confess I find his writing style a mite pretentious and, as he admitted, verbose.

"...this provides the tools to enable a reach...

Re: How to attach a 8wt fly line to the backing?

I've not heard of this before either, but now it seems so obvious. Thanks!

Re: AirFlo Super-Dri Elite

I had a Airflo Ridge line a few years back. it was the worst line I've ever owned for memory - it stayed coiled like a spring, particularly in the cold.

Curious if anyone else has found this too,...

Re: Parachute vs Traditional

I think the parachutes are more versatile as they can also resemble emergers, spinners and cripples too.

Not sure the trout agree, but that's my story...

I agree about the visibility advantage...

Re: Hook threaders?

I really like this magnetic threader. Inexpensive and it actually works as advertised! I've used it to tie on 20's, but I'm sure it would work with even smaller stuff.

Re: Split rings.

I've made many purchases (including tippet rings) from hardydeluxe. He's a great guy! Inexpensive, quick shipping, quality products and if he says he's got stock - he does. His ebay store is skagit...

Re: Why skimp on alignment markers?

I like the convenience of the alignment dots - so much so that I've added them to rods that don't come marked by the manufacturer.

I have another reason for using them on my rods other than...

Re: Tools of the Trade

20/20 Magnetic tippet threader. Love it! Works great for tying on those 18's in fading light. One of my most useful purchases this year....

Re: Line Suggestion TFO BVK 8wt

I've got an 8wt (330 gr.) Rio Outbound on my 9ft 8wt BVK. I throw a lot of weighted and/or bulky streamers with it - often into wind. Works very well for my casting style.

Re: Some bling for my build

I'm not really concerned about a few scuffs and scrapes. It'll just add some more character to the distressed look. And if it it gets too bad, I'm sure I can convince her to create a new medallion. ...

Re: High Build vs Lite Build

I've used high build on the 4 rods I've built. It's easy to use - just take your time and don't apply too heavily. My personal theory is the fewer steps I have to do, the fewer chances I have of...

Re: Some bling for my build

Thanks, folks.

She's on a distressed-copper kick with her jewellery-making these days, so I thought I'd take advantage. Should look real nice when it ages and tarnishes.

I'll pass along the...

Re: Life Time Warranties a Bad Thing?

I think they know we're always ready to buy another rod, be it a new-and-improved model or simply a different weight. And if we've had a good warranty experience with them, we'll be inclined to buy...

Thank you, sir. That's my first attempt using Life Flex material. Love the segmented look it gives to the body.
