Re: Roll casting line

It stands to reason that an intermediate line would be more difficult to roll or spey cast than a floating line because the head of the line will be underwater on the anchor. The same as a floating...

Re: 6 weight rod feedback Scott Radian?

I have cast the 9' 6wt. on the lawn and like it. Light fast and accurate. I have also cast the Method 9' 6wt. I liked it too, but a little to fast (stiff) for my taste. I'd take either of them,...

Re: fishing emergers

As may have already been said. Some dry flies represent an emerging mayfly. I prefer to fish an emerger pattern I can see during a hatch when fish can be seen rising, but may not be keying on duns. ...

Re: Up a line?

I would suggest going out on the lawn with your current set up. Start casting and watch the line through the forward and back casts. The back cast should have the same speed and loop as the...

Steelhead are in the Deschutes below Pelton Dam near Warm Springs. The drive from Bend to Warm springs is about 90 minutes and another 45 to Maupin. Floats can be done from Warm springs to Maupin or...

Re: 9'/#5 Burkheimer, Method, Radian, Solar

Last week I cast the method and solar (9'5wt and 9'6 wt respectfully) in a parking lot (with targets and no wind). The method was very accurate at 40 to 60 ft. I did not think it performed as well...

Re: How would you approach/fish this situation?

Nice fish. I would suggest taking the plastic covering off of the cork. It will feel much better to cast and grip the rod. The cork can be washed with soap and water and/or sanded to keep it...

Re: oregon fly fishing info.

The Portland area rivers are pretty low and warm by then. It's the Deschutes for steelhead and the Metolius for trout might be good. The Metolius would be a nice two night trip. The river stays...

Re: Moving to the NW E/SE of Portland this year

Hi Les,
Speaking of the winter steelhead run, the fish haven't shown up yet. The broad runs of the lower Sandy and Clackamas fish well with a spey rod because a large fly and sink tip line can be...

Re: oregon fly fishing info.

Most of the good summer flyfishing is in the Central Oregon high lakes and streams like the Deschutes and Metolious. The Clackamas and Sandy near Portland have hatchery summer steelhead runs. ...
