Used a velcro watchband.....Found it beyond annoying hanging from the end of the...

Re: over-sock ?

Five years + or - is what I get from a pair of G3s. 200-300 days per year.
At that point they leak everywhere except the booties......
If it was an issue out here, I would have had it....
Never...

Re: Leader Question

Akuriko, never feel funny about asking Questions......
You will get different responses on the forum, because we fish very different waters.
The heavier the flows, and the larger the fish, the more...

Re: Leader Question

In my experience, spray occurs with all leaders......
Don't false cast over smart fish.....or better, don't false cast at all.
But yes, more surface area on the furled leader means more water on...

Re: Tippet rings or perfection loop?

I only use tippet rings when czech nymphing. They work great!
Not on a braided leader, but hand-tied colored indicator tippet.
Hand tie all the rest of my leaders with blood knots.
I prefer a...

Re: Fishing and One's pride

Seriously, it wouldn't matter, but I'd have to say, if you are "lucky" you may land one......wild pressured fish don't play easy to get........

Re: Fishing and One's pride

What's scary, is trying to figure out how much experience a guy has over the phone.
I now ask how many days this year they've fished. Not, how long, or where they've fished.....
If they say they...

Re: Fishing and One's pride

Dozens of guys have told me how experienced they were, only to display a lack thereof.
Not one woman ever has.......
I think it's a guy thing...and not just young ones.

Re: Dispute over McKenzie River Salmon Stocks

OK, not to hijack.....
A hundred years or so ago, the Truckee was inhabited by Lahontan Cutthroat.
(The largest Cut in the world....say up to forty Lbs.)
Once they put the dams in, the run died...

Re: Dispute over McKenzie River Salmon Stocks

Fred, that's why I posted the book......
Salmon or rainbows, hatcheries are the problem. (Besides too many people.)
Hatcheries brought our expectations up that we would catch a fish. (Anytime, with...

Re: Dispute over McKenzie River Salmon Stocks

BEF, Sounds like you know as much about the west. as I know about the east.....(I may read up so I can rant a little.)
That being said........
When 90% of humans see a fish as something to eat,...

Re: Dealing with glare on the water

Let's be real.....
Cheap glasses just let bad UV in (A and B), and keep light out...
Which means your eyes dilate to let even more UV in.....bad...
You don't want your peripheral getting blasted...

Re: Forbidden Gadgets

I'm delighted with your gumption....
Other than peepers, I don't use many gadgets...
But the best fast track there is.....time on the water.
I hesitate to say "treat it like work".
But get...

Re: Dealing with glare on the water

I think of it as reality therapy.
The art, if there is one..
Is to deal.....
Very seldom is it perfect.
Try a large dry as an indicator...With a little offering off the back.
I know you heard...

Re: Using Split shot for first time

This technique may miss some fish if you aren't paying attention.........

Re: Damnation available outside US too

It's still on tour I think.
Somewhat limited release.
It's still a small, but growing population that thinks dams should go.
(Besides fishermen....)
Many dams were built to store water for...
