Re: took my son to a farm pond

That's so awesome man. I can't wait till my daughter is old enough to experience that. You must have felt like a million bucks

Re: I did it finally!!!

I love when a trout is rising to a fly so much, it almost makes me want to leave my wife. But, rising trout are a fickle mistress

Re: Okuma SLV rod

I've not used that particular rod, but I can tell you everything that I've used from Okuma has been very good. Probably worth a shot

Re: Small creek yet again this weekend

Don't you just love catching pan fish?

My brothers were out to visit recently, and we went on the hunt for bluegill since they had never fly fished before. They had a killer time!

Pan fish are...

Re: Fly Change Frequency

I probably don't change enough, but I am around 30 minutes per fly.

I should probably do it more though.

Re: Using normal Mono Line for leader?

I've tied my own leaders, and I've purchased them. For me, I would just rather buy them and keep moving. Sounds kind of lazy I know, just works for me.

Re: 4wt or 5wt Trout

My first rod was a 4. After that, I went to a 5. Then I got all fired up about some brookies on small water, and got a 3 and a 2.

Welcome to the addiction.

Re: WOW! Momma

Wow that's so killer! I wish I could get my wife into fly fishing. We have a baby on the way, so maybe I could just start getting her fly fishing gear for gifts and they would then become mine!

Re: Two New Ponds

The clouser has always been my "go to" when I'm getting into the bass. Small ponds are a lot of fun, and I have a feeling you will be all over these now that you know they are there!

Look at the colors on those things! Amazing. I love when they have that hook on the underbite!

Congrats sir, and thanks for the pics and update.

Re: A quick postcard from a Missouri wild trout stream-

And I am officially jealous. The thunderstorms down here have turned my usual spots into stretches of river that would make the Mississippi jealous. I think I saw a river boat casino the other day.

Re: bass of the year (so far)

I hope you immediately took that trophy to the taxidermist. If that isn't on your wall, that would be a travesty.

So I Have A Baby Coming...

And she will be here in July. I can't wait for her to be old enough to go fishing with her daddy.

I imagine what her first fish will be, and it will probably be bluegill or sunfish, as I am sure...

Re: Glissmeyer Adventures 2011

Even though it was a long trip for one fish, it is a very pretty fish.

Sorry about the ankle situation. Hopefully now, a full recovery is right around the corner. Thanks for the pics!

Re: The Fate of a Champion

I voted to have that monster live out it's days on your hat. Nothing like a good looking fly and the stories that go with it!

Re: Cell Phone "Apps"

The Orvis app is 15 bucks, but I bought it, and found out they give you a $10 gift certificate redeemable online or in store, so that was cool.

I actually wrote an article about smart phone apps...

Re: Turn off the faucet please-

Wow, that is certainly concerning.

I recently visited an area of the Chattahoochee river very near my house. While not a legendary fishery like the White, I still enjoy it. The water was up over...

Re: My favorite fly shop closed its doors

That's terrible to hear. I have a fav local shop, and it's always in the back of my mind that it could close, so I try to patron as often as possible, even if it's a little more expensive.

Re: Rate Your Customer Service Experience With any Company

I've noticed something with just about any company in any industry. The smaller a company is, the better their service tends to be.

As companies get bigger, it comes to a point where "it depends...

Re: Jumping fish

On top of bowing, I have seen guys pull a little line off the reel. I've never tried that, I just drop the tip.

Seems like you would have to have fast hands, and it seems like too much work.

Re: Rate Your Customer Service Experience With any Company

Orvis gets a 9
St. Croix gets a 10+
Simms gets a 10

Bass Pro Shops used to get a 10, now I would say a solid 8 (though they are back to getting better)

Tackle Wharehouse (for your...

Re: Spiked wading shoes

I use a set of studs from Simms on my rubber soled boots.

I am a big proponant of rubber soles, but I will also be the first to say, they DO NOT grip like felt, especially in big water.

I think everyone brings something different to the table, and has their own reasons for hanging out in a fly fishing forum. That said, I'm all good with whatever anyone wants to do.
