Re: Pricing of Premium Rods and Equipment - Yikes!!

I'm ascribing to Comeonavs "one technology cycle behind" approach. Now's the time to buy a #6 Sage One.

Re: Pricing of Premium Rods and Equipment - Yikes!!

If that's true, then you'll be unbelievably good with an X.:)

Re: Echo 3 for streamers?

Where in Western Montana do you live? I'm up in the Flathead, but get down to Rock Creek, the Bighole and Beaverhead quite a bit. I'll let you borrow my Echo 3 if you're close.

Re: Echo 3 for streamers?

I think the six is perfect for streamer fishing, even the big stuff. I use an old SA Streamer line. I think a #7 would be too much rod for trout fishing. Most guys I know use fast action fives for...

Re: Pricing of Premium Rods and Equipment - Yikes!!

I like that "one technology session behind" approach. Actually, that's been my personal model throughout my life, whether skis, cameras or backpacks, I'm completely satisfied with what was state of...

Re: Echo 3 for streamers?

I have a 10' six weight that I love for streamers. If had to do it over I think a 9' #6 would be perfect. Echo 3s are really underrated in my opinion, they are great rods at any price, at $350.00...

Re: Good 9' 5-6 weight rod for tight line nymphing

Echo 3 fall right in your price bracket and performs with rods twice that price. I have a 10' six that I use streamer and nymph fishing, love it.

Re: NRX LP 5wt

I'm going to give fast action one more try. I plan on finding a good deal on a 690 One. I've owned Sage RPL, Z-Axis, One all 590s and a 586 SP. The SP is the only Sage that I liked enough to keep. I...

Re: NRX LP 5wt

Bigfork Anglers, about two hours north of you had the NRX LP last summer. I tried the 9' #5, nice rod.

Re: The X ...for Sage fans...

I remember the Radian "Fast with Feel" mantra from a few years ago. At the time I was sceptical, as I've heard that kind of marketing for years, but after trying out the rod I felt that somebody...

Re: Sage 2016

I have fished 8.5', 9', 9.5' and 10' five and six weights, I prefer the 9' rods. The longer rods have noticeably more swing weight to me.

Re: 6 weight rod feedback Scott Radian?

Pulling an old thread out of the archives due to the recent discounting of the Sage One. Since this thread I know Dillon opted for a 690 Radian, and S&S still likes the Method and NRX. Anybody else...

Re: Your Fly rod brand of choice

You guys are going to kick me off the forum for not having enough fly rods. I actually own 10-12 fly rods, but eight of them are old family heirlooms that I never fish with. I'm happy with one #3,...

So come next August, will the One be obsolete?

Re: 2-4-6-8 what do you appreciate?

I live in western Montana and trout fish 100%, mostly rivers and streams. 90% of my fishing is with either my medium action Scott G 904 or my 905 Radian if the wind picks up. I have a very nice...

Re: Scott Radian versus Sage ONE...

We have a long history of high end hand crafted rods over here, Orvis, T&T, Payne, Hardy, G Loomis, Scott and Sage.

If you prefer fast action fly rods, no need to look past Sage, they have owned...

Re: Scott Radian versus Sage ONE...

Maybe I'm reading him wrong, but I think Mathy is missing the boat with his assumption that Scott's Radian came out of nowhere, and that Scott has lagged behind Sage and Loomis in design, materials...

Re: Sage 2016

Thanks. Your points sound reasonable, to the point I'm afraid to do your carpet test, and just live happily with the rod without overthinking myself into finding fault.

I wish I could meet up...

Re: Sage 2016

S&S, I'm curious how the Radian taper translates into an actual cast that you dont care for, relatively speaking. You seem to be out on an island regarding the Radian, I know you don't believe in...

Re: Thinking about Rod length

Wow, I felt a huge difference between my 8'6" SP and my buddy's 9' version. My slightly shorter rod felt lighter, crisper and maybe faster. I like a nine footer for deep water wading, float tube...

Re: Sage 2016

A slightly softer Sage brown One II sounds good to me. Color and looks are important to me, obviously performance trumps look, but putting both together is bonus. My favorite Sage colors are the...

Re: Sage 690 One?

I already have a nice 10' #6 Echo 3 that is my main streamer-nymphing rod, so the One sounds like a good compliment.

Re: Sage 2016

That's what I was thinking. Is the 690 as good as the 590?
