A tribute fly

Last year my grandfather passed which got me to tying this fly based on the Mcmillan tartan (the dress one I think).

Hook - #2 Bartaleet
Tip - Silverflat with gold over
Tail - peacock, ring neck...

Most of my fishing is into the wind, short leaders with wf sinking line will help heaps.

But as WJC said raising your back cast and esentialy casting down wards on the foward cast will help more...

deer, elk, moose......... this type of animal and possom have hollow hair. They will float best, you can also use a bunch of CDC under the wing.

To get good wing shape and stop it from spreading...

Brian, you can import feathers that have no skin attached, otherwise you will have to pay for fumegation;) Ebay and feathers smc are good sources of loose Jungle cock nails.

The 7/9 wt airframe large arbor reel has just turned up today the reel cost much less than the spare spool on most other reels! I cant find where they have cut any cost the bearings are stainless...

Thanks Allan, I used furnace dry fly schapplin, for the body and throat just gave it an extra wrap;) so it appears diffrent because it is longer but dyed pheasant rump would give the same effect.
