Re: 9'6"?

The Marksman was the first 10' rod I ever cast. My buddy bought one Jan 2013 and I fished it in the spring. Once I used it for 30 minutes I knew I had to have the 10' rod in my quiver.

The...

Re: whiting hackle prices

Those are beauties Silver. When they say Cree is the 1 hackle Adams, it truly is.

I struggle with buying hackles since 99.99% of my dry fly fishing is done with the below flies here in the rockies...

Re: Reel Recommendation for 7wt Rod

I am one of the complainants about the Lamson wide/ shallow line barreling issues.

That being said I just bought a Lamson Speedster 3 from Trident fly fishing ( a forum sponsor) . They have...

Re: whiting hackle prices

I just ordered a bunch of hackles from feather emporium. The quality was good but the size of the 1/2 capes and 1/2 saddles I ordered "seem" smaller in size compared to the ones in the shops

None...

Re: Galvan Rush Light, Nautilus FWX, Hardy UltraliteDD

Sorry I misread you then, I assumed you ruled out the Hardy due to the shine factor and the detents for icing up plus the warranty question.

I think the Hardy is a beautiful reel and for the price...

Re: Galvan Rush Light, Nautilus FWX, Hardy UltraliteDD

Sounds like you eliminated the Hardy for valid reasons, quite canidly the warranty issue question on the reel and the Grey's streamflex rod is the only thing that kept me from going 10' 4wt with that...

Re: How to learn to use a soft rod?

I find for me with slower rods, I tend to pussy foot around to much with them. Slower action doesn't mean you can lolly gag it either. Pretty much what everyone else said. Let the line extend on the...

Re: Best TFO Rod for trout (5 WT)

Re: Best TFO Rod for trout (5 WT)

Depends on what action you like med, med-fast, fast or ultra fast.

Are you using this rod for "all around" or dries, hoppers, streamers, nymphs. The purpose of the rod as far as application will...

Re: Line suggestions - Winston BIIt 7'6" 3wt

I run that SA Mastery textured trout on all my 3wt "dry fly" rods. I also have Rio Gold for my 3wts I nymph with.

I've never used this particular rod, but I can't imagine why the textured trout...

Re: Those clip-on magnifier things...

I was going to buy some but I ran across some Prato polarized sunglasses with cheaters etched in the bottom corners by your nose. So as you bring the fly to your face.... bam magnified.

When its...

Re: Indicator Fly Heresy!

Maybe it is me, but unless it is the dog days of summer and it is full on hopper season or I am using a size 12 Madam X , Stimulator etc etc I don't drop off a weighted nymph.

I will run a jujube,...

Re: Nymphing rods

Your post really tells the tell why I love my Allen ICON 10' 4WT. It has enough backbone to roll cast 30+ feet of line with a double and a strike indicator on board. I can get the line through a fair...

Re: Am I over thinking this?

Yup as others said that is a beautiful reel, probably overkill for a 3wt, but if you can afford it and want it go ahead.
I have a $300 click/pawl reel on a 1wt, but then again I have a older used...

Re: SA Sharkwave

Thanks everyone,

Based on the fact I have a fresh spool of textured trout taper sitting here, the only thing Sharkwave provides me is a sharkskin texture for the first 30' or so of the line.
