Re: Eastern Sierra?

I'll second that. Maybe I'll need to go on-line and order me some of the Sweet n' Spicy. I don't think I can wait until the end of April.

Re: What Rod Weig

Are you staying in the town of Kernville? If so, you'll probably be fishing the upper Kern. Great fishing between the town of Kernville north to Johnsondale bridge. The Kern River Hwy runs...

Re: What Rod Weig

I can speak for the Kern River in California, not sure if that's the Kern you were asking about. A 9' 5wt would be good or even a 4wt. The Kern River Fly Shop in the town of Kernville is a good...

Re: Eastern Sierra?

Yep, excellent deli at Schat's. My favorite is the roast turkey sandwich. Gotta get some of their cheese and sheepherders bread too; the chili cheese with jalapeno's is good too. There is also a...

Re: Eastern Sierra?

Yeah, Mahogany Smoked Meats up the road has the best beef jerky I've ever had. Always get enough Sweet n' Spicy and the Natural Slab to last me my trip up in the Sierras and always stop to pick up...

Re: Eastern Sierra?

For the Upper Owens I think you also have to fish north of Benton Crossing Bridge.

Re: Allen Alpha 3/4 vs Trout 3/4

Thanks Dave. I've read the specs but was wondering if anyone has actually fished these two reels. Based on the website it also appears the drag on both are the same.

Allen Alpha 3/4 vs Trout 3/4

Anyone familiar with the main differences between these two reels? Noticed on their website that the Alpha was a little smaller than the Trout. Both seems to be a good deal for the $'s. Thanks

Re: Ya'll be safe

Stay safe. I have family in Murfreesboro, TN and they said they let the kids out of school half day in preparation for the bad weather.

Re: My band covers "Sultans of Swing"

Great job Yat. Like to hear Gold Dust Woman and Surrender when they are ready, two more of my favorites.

Re: recommend a click and pawl for a 3-wt

Yep, regarding the Ross Colorado, you'll have to try to find one in good condition. I've seen them on eBay before, just need to be selective when searching.

Re: recommend a click and pawl for a 3-wt

I'd also recommend the Ross Colorado. Been using mine for the last 15+ years with my Sage 590-3 LL.

Re: the ridiculous that's not so ridiculous

My Dad bought me one when I was about 10. I think he got it for me at one of the outdoor shows we used to attend. Back then I just fished with spinning gear so the Ty-Rite was always in the top tray...

Re: Big Tujunga Creek

I think you are correct. Took a look at this site and it does not look like any local creeks are being planted.

Re: Big Tujunga Creek

Saw one on Google map. Maybe it was really low; would have been on your left as you were going up Big Tujunga Canyon Road.

Re: Big Tujunga Creek

Thanks for the info. Took a look on Google and the road seems to go up a ways to the reservoir.

Re: A Fine Day Out....

Very nice looking fish. I'm also from So Cal but have never fished any of the local waters, which really limits my time on the water; only a few trips to the Sierras each year and maybe one up to...

Re: New to Forum, New to LA

Are you planning to fish the lake or Piru Creek? Is the shop in Sherman Oaks Fisherman's Spot?

I'd say Marriott's selection of fly tying material, float tubes, waders and wading supplies, and...

Re: Fly Reel Selection

Can pick up a LS 3.5 for $240 and LS 4 $280. One of the other threads pointed out this great deal. I was looking for LS 1.5 for a 4wt. I'm sure the Litespeed is Made in the USA, the Konic which is...

Re: New to Forum, New to LA

What did you think about Marriott's? I haven't visited many fly shops, other than some in the Eastern Sierras and a couple when vacationing in North Carolina, so I really do not have much data to...
