Re: 10' 4wt recomendations

TFO, BVK. Best rod for the buck out there, IMHO.

Re: Soft Hackle fly question

I rarely set up a nymph rig without a soft-hackle in there somewhere. We catch fish in all 3 phases of the drift (initial, middle, swing), although the swing stage picks up a few more fish than the...

Re: My polypropylene yarn don't float !!

Yup, got to dress it, brush it, and trim it. Easy to customize and should float all day. I have a video on you tube that shows how.

Re: Greased leader

When I'm running a dry-dropper set up I will grease the tippet. Go to rig this time of year is a Parachute Adams (size 18), tied off of the bend about 18" of tippet is a Blue Wing emerger pattern...

Re: "Tail Waters;" what is it?

A tailwaterr can bottom, middle or "spill" over a dam. Most of the time spent on "my tailwater" is when the dam is bottom feeding the river. Even temps, steadier flows, sparcer hatches, heavy use,...

Re: Secret flies

I do believe in fly fatigue. I see it on the river as the season progresses, therefore, I will do as many of you and tweak a few patterns. I also think you can fish the wrongs bugs correctly and...

Re: How do you make streamer leaders?

I'm pretty cheap. I will take a 7.5' 5x tapered leader and cut it down to about 5'. That gives me about 3x at the knot to the streamer. The cheap part comes in because I keep a few old leaders now...

Re: Frustrating time casting my new rod

Great comments above. Overline it and work on tempo, acceleration to a stop, and see if you can find someone to watch you. Best of luck.

Re: Nymph fishing without indicators

I'm convinced that nymphing under an indicator (bobber) is very effective and enjoyable when done correctly. That said, Eric Stroup has a book out describing nymphing w/o indicators.

Re: Redington Predator or TFO's BVK?

X2 fly or die, over-line it and go with the TFO. Better rod in all facets in my humble opinion.

Re: What to do when....

I advocate the use of a "position set". At the end of each nymph drift, as the bugs rise thru the water columns, I will put in a postion set. The timing is hard to explain, but you can see what I'm...

Re: Dumb question

All the above are good explanations. I find when one is piling line that two common errors come into play. Provided line and rod are matched, fly line should behave if your casting arc and wrist...
