Re: NRX LP 5 weight - opinions?

From the little fly shop and personal comparing I have done, I think the Scott G2 is to the Radian as the NRX LP is to the regular NRX.

Re: 4 wt. Rods

I think a four weight G2 would be a great compliment to your five and six weight Radians. Haligator mentions the Winston WT, I have a 7 1/2' three weight WT, that rod is tied with my G904 for...

Re: The (Un)Official Sage Mod Thread

I find it interesting that Scott still offers a G2 series which is a very slightly modernized version of the G series that was in production for decades. Apparently Scott believes there is still a...

Re: The (Un)Official Sage Mod Thread

It's hard to keep up with all the new rods that seem to replace beloved older rods everyday. I appreciate the real leaps in technology and associated new designs, but wish they would leave some...

Re: The (Un)Official Sage Mod Thread

On the flip side I have a vey nice Scott G904 with upgraded NS hardware, it weighs a whole ounce more than the standard G904. Seeing that weight written on the rod freaked me out, but realizing the...

Re: Handled the Sage Mod yesterday.

Where does he get nasty? Both sides seem a little defensive, I don't see the big deal. Apparently Scout feels Sage blew an opportunity regardless of how the rod cast by using less than stellar...

Re: Handled the Sage Mod yesterday.

Maybe "screwed the pooch" was a little strong, but I totally understood the OP's comments and dissatisfaction with the rod even though he didn't cast it. He doesn't like the color and feels they put...

Re: Need nymphing rod advice

I have a 10' six weight Echo 3 that is the perfect heavy nymph-streamer rod for me. The Echo 3 is a Rajef design and is very well built, at around $350.00 they are a killer deal.

Re: Measuring casting distance

That's a good point and very true, but every time I buy a new rod I practice in the back yard and inevitably feed out more and more line to see just how far I can go. Sometimes I even take my 100'...

And nothing roll cast like a Scott G - G2.

Re: Measuring casting distance

I never thought much about it as I'm not competing, I just assumed it was done as you do it, measured from where I stand.

Re: Radian, what line works best for you ???

Hi Bob, I'm 100% dry fly with my Radian. I fish either 9' or 12' hand tied leaders, usually 5X with a 3' tippet. Like I said, the Rio Gold cast as nice as the GPX but with a better turnover.

Re: Best Rod For Roll Casting

A Scott G series was the first rod that came to mind.

Re: Radian, what line works best for you ???

I started with my SA Sharkskin Ultimate Trout on my 905 Radian, that line is very similar to the Expert Distance Taper Ian at Scott recommended. It worked fine, but lacked feel. Then I tried a GPX I...

Re: One vs Radian 8'-6" 4wt.

Yeah, you were missing the context of our recent discussions regarding the Radian, One and older Scott G - G2 series. I think we all enjoy fishing more than anything, but when I'm home working, it's...

Re: Up lining or Down lining a fly rod

One more thing, I agree there is a distance sweet spot for each rod-line combo, which makes me wonder about those Anderson Shoot Outs where for a rod to score high it has to be 19-20 out of 20 at 25,...

Re: One vs Radian 8'-6" 4wt.

Thanks for passing that on. I'm surprised that the Radian feels faster than the One in the 4 weight, that seems opposite of the five weights. I think I'm going to call Telluride and ask about the 9'...

Re: Up lining or Down lining a fly rod

Before forums like this one, we relied on a salesman's advise or just went with a line as labeled on the rod. Back then I was less picky and most rods can cast a range of weights however narrow. I'm...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I need to check but I think the DT line I have on my G 886/3 is a 6wt peach. I know it roll casts well and gives a "fine" presentation overhead even in my hands... (that may be why I like these...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

Slower than he likes, yet he prefers the NRX LP over the faster NRX? Maybe he did get a defective sample or Sage was pulling a trick on him, it doesn't make sense. He loves the 4 and 6 weight yet...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I've had two 904/4s, the first I bought in San Francisco in 1991. It was either one of last San Francisco or first Berkeley rods. I cracked a ferrule around 1999 and Scott replaced it with a brand...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I know. I can't believe Anderson as well as many fly shops use the GPX as their standard test line. My local shop uses GPX in every weight as their test lines. They sell Rio, but wont let you demo a...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I don't know S&S, read this Anderson review of the Sage One 690...

Casting on the lawn, the ONE felt much lighter and at longer distances it had a lot more punch and power than the Zenith. At...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I want a 906 Radian but I'm afraid it would relegate my 905 to the closet. Also S&S, have you tried the 690 ONE? Is it a little bit less fussy than the 590 ONE? I seem to remember George Anderson who...

Re: Anyone thinking about getting the Sage MOD rod?

Back when I was learning how to fly fish from my Dad, this was what we strived for; the beautiful unfurling of the line on the water, but I learned the lesson you speak of long ago, it was actually...
