Re: A couple of Redingtons
Interesting. I have since this write up purchased a couple other Redingtons.
I went with one of their CPS upgrades, the CPX in a nine foot four weight. Very fast, like the CPS but with a softer...

Re: sunglass lenses
I like to use a tan lens. I recently bought some close out titanium series Rapala glasses that I am very impressed with. I bought some dark lens ones as well but don't really like dark lenses on the...

Re: Fly Fishing in a Kilt?
In all actuality, I cannot think of anything more ridiculous then this idea.
I am really trying to see the upside but there is not one.
Some bad ideas come along from time to time, but this...

Re: Cheap DIY Floatant - AMAZING!
If your line is starting to sink, it is due to wicking. Inside of your flyline is a center core, usually made of a material that will absorb water. When you spliced it onto your leader, you would...

Re: price difference
There is no reason you cannot buy the lower priced set up and be perfectly pleased with it. I see no point in spending five hundred dollars on a rod. I fish with an Albright GP rod and it is my...

Re: Redington CD Reel opinions?
Is this one of the old ones?
They were junk! I had one and the drag would slip and stick. The thing was machined very sloppy and after a while it seemed to be falling apart. The bad thing is...

Re: Reels
I would personally recommend the Okuma. Great company with great gear.
As far as the DT WF thing, the reel would take more backing to fill the same size weight forward line as a DT line is the...

Re: short rods vs. long rods
Most people in my neck of the woods go with a nine foot five weight.
My favorite rod though is an eight foot five weight. It is more accurate then the nine footer, imo. I get just as much...

Re: TFO Professional 9ft 5wt 4pc
I must say I heartily disagree with that statement.
When someone first starts flyfishing I would say that having a bunch of rods is a bad thing. They need to master the mechanics of the cast,...

Re: good beginner rod??
Can I just make a blanket post here????
We get about five posts a day that ask if a rod, reel, line, or package is good for a beginner.
I would like to just share what I feel in this matter....

Re: So many rods and reel, so many choices.
here is what I would recommend for you.
Albright rod. I have and fish with one and it is quickly becoming my favorite.
You can get the GP rod on Ebay right now for about $65 or you can find...

Re: Question about rod quality
Funny thing is that many are going right back to the cane and glass of yesterday. It is fine material and the rods are great to fish with.
I love catching a fish with a $30 rod while everyone...

Re: TFO Professional 9ft 5wt 4pc
The Professional rods are very nice sticks. They cast well and have a great warranty. They did not scrimp on putting them together. Not the best lookers but then again, I don't think those things...

Re: Question about rod quality
Honestly, I think this is one of those funny subjects.
Take a look at some of the fly fishing greats from the past and see what they were using. The rods they were making great casts with and...

Re: Sage Launch Anyone?
The Sage Launch is a great stick. I have used the seven and a half footer. Great casting rod.
I would say though that there are other options out there though so cast a few and see which ones you...

I second my motion
I just got out my Albright GP fly rod. 8 foot 5/6. I have made comment about this stick before but I have to just re-iterate. This is one of the finest casting sticks out there. Sub $100 rod and man,...

Re: Why Shouldn't I Keep this Rod????
They are fantastic rods and that is a screaming deal.
That rod is made by SAGE overseas and is a wonderful caster and carries a great warranty.
I say keep it and enjoy!

Re: Some times ya just get dumb lucky!
Congrats!
I love glass rods and several times a year do pawn shop hopping to look at what they have. Mostly I find junk and move on but occasionally I hit pay dirt.
My last great find was an...

there is no issue here. Sometimes things get a little heated and one of the problems with typing is authorial intent is extremely hard to grasp.
I really do insert my stance though I...

Again, I can certainly explain more but we can do that off the open board if you are interested.
