Re: 2016 8wt shootout.

Not sure I follow the shootout for a salmon/steelhead 8 weight fly rod, which is my use. Different beast, and I would think that would be of some interest to many, maybe not. Scott has propelled...

Re: Do Lamson reels hold up in the salt ?

In my experience the Lamson has failed in the salt. I like Lamson and continue to own two Litespeeds (old school). They only see fresh water. The best mid priced reel I have used in the Salt with...

Re: Snake Guides Effect on Casting and Fishing

Sage XP and TCR 691-4 models.....has 11 guides including tip. Has one small stripping guide size 12 or 16...can't recall off hand. (think 16)

Sage 690-4 Xi3 has 10 guides including tip but has...

Re: Sage XP vs Scott S4?

XP is an excellent rod in weights 6 thru 9 in my humble opinion. I have 6,8,and 9 weights. The 10 is a little mushy for me. 10 foot rods can take on different characteristics than their shorter...

Re: New Clutch Trout series

Yes it does. Few years ago on a different site one of the members was recommending to another to bust his rod and get the newer model, he had done the same thing and was rewarded the newer rod. Of...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I would like to add to your rod over time breakdown, I was told back in the 90's that overlining your rod with plus weight lines would do the same thing, providing if you fished it a lot with the...

Re: Sage price increase

I always wished my XP and TCR 691's had bigger guides with two stripping guides instead of the one small one. This is the transition rod going towards larger fish and should have bigger guides IMHO

Re: Sage price increase

I thought some of the older Thomas and Thomas rods had the most elegant (production) reel seats. Older winstons not shabby either. Not a fan of the graphite spacers and the skeletal framed w/metal...

Re: Sage price increase

Several years ago Redington made a rod that was loved and praised by many, it was the CPS. They are hard to find these days. Never understood why Redington replaced it with a stiffy like the CPX.

Re: 4 wt. Rods

I cant comment on the Biiix. I really liked the Biix in 3-4-5 weights but they lost me after that series. They got away from that traditional feel good rod and tried to compete with the Fast rods...
