Re: Complete outfit

You have this all wrong. The only thing that frustrates me is the distance I need to go to find decent streams, which is over 200 miles. My casting is fine. Actually, the dude that got me interested...

Re: Complete outfit

Final markdown - $335

If you'd price this equipment individually, you'd tally up around $745. The price I'm asking is what just the rod sells for new and this one is just like new. Basically, the...

Re: Complete outfit

Come to think of it, I didn't even factor in the cost of the line and backing when I priced this out. :) Anyway, the reel has 20# backing and 5 wt. Rio Mainstram floating line. I believe it's weight...

Re: Show us Your Photography

I forgot to update my new email addy a couple months ago and I see I was missing a lot. Great pics everyone. I haven't done as much photography this summer, but here are probably my 3 recent faves....

Re: Complete outfit

If I was to split it up, I'd need to find buyers for all of it. If I sold the rod, the reel wouldn't do me any good if I had a change of heart someday, and vice versa. If anyone is interested, here...

Re: Alaska Rafting Business for Sale

That would be an awesome livelihood - salmon and brown bears. I was to Katmai several years ago to photograph the brown bears fishing for salmon. It was an experience I'll never forget.

Good luck...

Re: Complete outfit

Unfortunately, in the SW corner of MN, there isn't really much for panfish or bass lakes. My favorite little nearby bass lake froze out last winter. :( Even if it hadn't, I'd rather throw plastics....

Complete outfit

Thru the urging of a friend last year, I decided to give fly fishing a shot. After 1/2 dozen times, I've figured out it isn't for me. I detest tying knots and the nearest decent trout stream is over...

Re: How many people do you prefer

Cute.

Considering my favorite river is just over 200 miles away, I need one other person to help pay for the trip. Plus, the only person I go with is the one that introduced me to this...

Re: Punching through the wind

Some of us newbies will believe anything, especially from someone who has an impressive 7 posts. ;) Seriously, when it comes to fly fishing, I'm pretty darned gullible. :)

Nice slippers, Dave.

Spring is here and the ducks are back, along with the coot and rats. :)

Jaiyman, did you say that you sell the finished product? I have no interest in tying, just using.

Re: Glow in the dark flies

Glow in the dark jigheads were the rage for walleye fishing several years ago in Minnesota. A couple companies even came out with a "special" light to energize it for night fishing. Of course, a...

Re: Start Up Question

I got fortunate. I was out taking photos, my first passion, at an area state park, and came across a guy fly fishing for trout. I took some photos of him catching a trout and we got to talking. He...

Re: Butterfly pics

Thanks George.

Wind is definitely not a photographer's friend.

I saw a few monarchs while on the road today, but after getting down to 42 degrees fahrenheit this morning, I doubt they'll stick...

Re: Butterfly pics

Kudos to you on the Sulphur. I saw a few today but couldn't get a decent shot. However, today was the day for open wings. I have no idea why, but there was no problem finding them with their wings...

Re: Butterfly pics

Hummingbird moths are cool. The problem I have is, every time I see one, the sun is down and it's too dark to get a photo.

I did go out in the 25 - 35 mph winds this morning to see what I could...

Re: rigid mini pontoon

Yep Milt, that's the one. My buddy was thinking about getting one and putting a trolling motor on it.

I've gone thru a few Tony's pizzas in my days. :D

Re: Butterfly pics

That swallowtail is a pretty one. If they weren't predicting 25 - 35 mph winds the next couple days, I'd grab my camera and do some hunting. But, I'd better hurry because they'll be starting to...

rigid mini pontoon

Does anyone hear have one of these mini pontoons like Cabelas sells? The pontoons are solid so no inflating needed. They'll fit into the back of a full sized pickup fully assembled. Since I just sold...

Re: Butterfly pics

I just did some research and found out that I live in too cold a climate for these bushes. Thanks for the tip anyway.
