Re: Who has ORVIS Helios2 6wt Tip Flex?? feedback?

I've been fishing my H2 6 weight for about a year now. I love it. It is very powerful and can throw some pretty large bass bugs and streamers. It has a lot of feel, but I do admit, I like it a...

Re: 3wt or 4wt short rod

In the situations you describe, I like a 7' 4 weight. I have a Orvis Superfine 4 piece that I use for these situations. I also like the idea of vintage glass. A 71/2' Fenwick 5 wt would work well...

Re: Newbie needs help with first set up

If they passed a law tomorrow and said you could only have one rod, I would choose a 6 weight. For my freshwater fishing, a six weight can do almost anything. Sure, I will be over gunned a bit in a...

Re: New bass rod

Fly Guy, The 96-7 blank rod is euivalent to the ff807. It should be a 8' 7wt. rod. I have seen many on Fiberglass Flyrodders say this is their favorite 7 wt rod ever. Sounds like you got a good...

Craigthor, I have never cast a Heddon, but I have collected a few Fenwick Glass rods over the last year. I bought some Cortland 333+ lines and they work great. On my FF756 I have used a 6 wt...

Re: Echo Glass

Flyguy,

I have been collecting some of the Old Fenwicks and 7 and 8 weights can generally be had for about 100 bucks. My favorite though is the ff756-4. A four piece 7 1/2' six weight. The...

Re: Will textured fly line hurt your guides?

I have heard several situations now where Sharkskin has caused wear on guides, but no confirmation that the newer less aggressive textured lines have yet. If somebody has had their guides worn from...

They run a for profit rod repair shop in Manchester. They do all kinds of custom work and rod repair. Orvis always gets a bad rep for selling dog beds and ladies clothing, but they are the real...

Re: New guy with a new Z-Axis here ...

Rio Gold is 146 grains in the first 30 feet. Does that make it 1/2 weight heavier. I know most true 5 weight lines weigh about 140 grains in the first 30 feet,
