Re: barbless hooks

How do you guys debarb? I use a plier head on, but the ridges are tricky to align with the barb, and it tends to slip and hide in the trough, making it tricky. Any faster easier way?

Re: Allen & Co. Alpha WOW!!!

I have the ATS rod and Trout reel and they are very nice products. Have good success with their customer service too, and am working with Kyleon a repair that's my fault and its very reasonable.

Re: Orvis Guide Sling Pack

What does "fully loaded" mean and what is include? $139 for just the pack isn't outrageous.

Re: Cabelas L-Tech on Sale FYI

No problem. Do you find the rod pretty true to its weight?

And also, FTD? CGR?

Re: Cabelas L-Tech on Sale FYI

Thanks Itch. Based on you recommendation I got the SLV 89.

As my 8wt rod +SLV89 is going to be my beach salmon/steelhead setup, I'm thinking of the Rio Outbound Short as the line. Does anyone...

Re: Cabelas L-Tech on Sale FYI

Itchme, you may be right, it's just what the Cabela guys said.

Do you have a Prestige Plus? Is it in the same weight class as the SLV? A half the price of an SLV I may try it out.

Re: Cabelas L-Tech on Sale FYI

Well I went to Cabelas and got the freshwater 8 wt 9 ft of it. The guys said the only difference are the guides, and since I rinse they don't think it's needed.

I am thinking about the Cabelas...

Re: Cabelas L-Tech on Sale FYI

Darn sales :-). Thinking about the 8 wt for beach and steel heading. Is the saltwater version worth extra $20? Seems like its pretty corrosion resistant as it is, maybe it's faster?

Also, any...

Re: CutThroat Furled Leaders

It's furled leader thing is new to me, so some dumb question:

- Isn't the furling going to make the leader that much more noticeable?
- the FAQ on the site suggests 6 ft - 9ft of tippet, is that...

Re: Nail knot for tippet?

I used tye-fast for Tippett-leader but it slips. I think it has to do with what was said earlier, that the leader has to give a little for seating, and it doesn't for me.

Triple surgeon knot for...

Re: Nail knot for tippet?

I see, the blood knot recommendation makes the most sense to me. The loop video is great but I don't see me doing it for tippets.

Another knot to learn I guess!

Nail knot for tippet?

I had the idea that the nail knot may be neater than the usual double surgeon's knot that I use for leader-tippet, but I can't for the life of me tie one that doesn't slip. I've tried mono-to-mono,...

Re: Snake Guide came undone

Hope the boy don't feel too badly about it...these things happen to most of us.

I'm not sure if the warranty will cover stuff like this, but it's worth a try. I also wonder if someone in the rod...

Turks and Caicos?

I'm heading to Turks and Caicos for vacation in the Winter, and am wondering if anyone had experience with bonefishing there. If you have done it before, how was it, and who was your guide? Would...
