Re: When Your Best Is Deemed "Not Good Enough..."

Life is too short to let a-holes get to you. Just tell them to F O and let them buy their flies from China. It seems that everyone else is more than satisfied with both the quality and quantity of...

Re: Big Rattle Snake on a 6wt Fly Rod, look at the bendů

Don't you think that others could say virtually the same thing about us? Why would someone take the time to tie fur and feathers onto pointed pieces of metal to hook and drag fish in for "no good...

Re: Ideas on wet-wading shoes?

I am with nevadastig on this. The boots give good traction and support. Only thing I would add is to make sure the neoprene socks have gaitors (or have separate gaitors). I had a pair of neoprene...

Re: Any Newly Retired, or Semi-Retired, Fly Fishermen Out There?

Was able to retire about a year ago, primarily on a company pension. Have savings too but so far haven't had to touch them.
While I say I'm retired, it is more like semi-retired. Do some casual...

Re: American Journey

As a Canadian that has had an opportunity to visit and explore a great deal of the USA, I would strongly recommend you visit the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park. They aren't that far apart...

Re: Kudos to Ross Worldwide

I had a similar result dealing with Ross on an Essence FW rod I purchased. Great customer service. Should also mention that rod performed really well for me and for the price, was a great bargain.

Re: Follow the rules, I got my first ticket. :(

Well then get the law changed to something more acceptable through the political process. Until then, it is still the law. I'm sure there are many that would like not to have laws that limits fish...

Re: Follow the rules, I got my first ticket. :(

BTW, way to "man up" and take personal responsibility regarding the ticket. It is sad that it is refreshing to actually hear someone these days say "I screwed up and take full responsibility for my...

Re: Follow the rules, I got my first ticket. :(

Good post! I suspect some of those same people that have an issue with speed limits, BAC limits etc. would be raging if people chose to ignore fly fish only laws, barbless laws, c&r laws, exceeded...

Re: Follow the rules, I got my first ticket. :(

Sorry to threadjack but you are giving incorrect and dangerous information about impairment. There are literally dozens, if not hundreds, of studies showing that impairment begins to occur at levels...

Re: Straightening Used Fly Line?

Not sure if the make of line was mentioned and I just missed it, but depending on the make of line, you might continue to have issues with memory/coils. I once had an Airflo line that I couldn't...

Re: Fly tying saves money?

Investment in tools and vice can be amortized over thousands of flies in a lifetime. Same goes for material. Buy a quality cape and you can get years worth of flies of varying sizes and patterns....

Re: What essentials do I have to have to get started?

After getting back into fly fishing a few years ago after a long absence, I cheaped out on rods, reels and lines. As I started spending more and more time fishing, I quickly realized my frugality...

Re: Decisions, decisions....I need your help!

I think you should invest it in some nice yielding stock and when it reaches $13, cash in and really go nuts with your shopping.

Re: Favorite nymphs

I have had great success with the pink squirrel nymph. I don't use chenille for the hot spot but rather use hot pink dubbing. I vary the body color but my best success has been with an olive...

Re: Thoughts on Dries

I actually prefer parachutes because they are easier for me to see but I will use whatever style works. Last year I was on the water during an amazing green drake hatch. Tied on a parachute style...

Golfers have done this sort of thing with their clubs for years. The labels can be purchased quite inexpensively and could be applied to all sorts of FF gear: boxes, rods, rod cases etc. They...
