Re: Time for new boot ?

The Korker system is IMHO fantastic if you need different soles for different conditions. The BOA system is great but they also have offerings with laces. I have been using their KGB boots for 2...

The TMF is a totally different rod than the 3 piece 8' 4 weight IM6 and the IM6/WT rods after serial number 43500 is another animal. All these rods are in their own right great 4 weights just...

Re: Help picking a new 6 wt

The GVX is a fantastic rod IMHO. I have owned and fished just about all their rods and I prefer the GVX 6 to the Blllx because of its smooth action. I also am partial to the Bllx 6.

Re: Finding a wader leak

Spraying alcohol on the inside of the dry wader has worked perfectly for me for years. If the leak is on a seam it is usually not repairable and if I find that is the case I have first called Simms...

Re: Cork Rod Handle

Use Elmer's carpenters wood filler in Golden oak color. Perfect match for cork when dry and can be sanded perfectly smooth to match handles. I have built many fly rods and this is what the pros use....

Re: Pre IM6 Winston 7 wt

If you want to remove the name, it is pretty simple. Carefully sand the area where the name is located with 400 grit production sand paper. Go all the way around the blank and just remove the name...

Re: 6-Weight Renaissance

My trout rods in the 60s were actually 7 weights and as the years passed I progressed down to 4 weights for smaller waters and 5 weights out west. The last 6 or 7 years I have moved to 6 weights for...

Re: Winston IM6 serial number 85000's ?

Re: Do Fake Winstons Exist?

Sweet I own 2 of the early 8.5 5 wt Im6 rods and can attest to the fact that the actual "Staff" is probably quite a bit faster. In fact closer to a TCR. I just built an 8.5 4wt Bllt and it turned out...

Re: Suggestions for trip in June

Re: Which Winston?

True 6 but there is always some flexibility depending your casting style. I use a Rio Gold, older style, or the 3M expert distance lines. It's a light smooth casting rod that will probably work...

Re: Which Winston?

I own the GVX 6 and bought it after casting the Biiix. Price was not a consideration and I felt, for me, the GVX was the right rod. It loads smoothly and is capable of very accurate long casts. Great...
