Re: Redington CPX 8wt SWITCH ROD with redingtion 7/8 rise ii reel, need suggestions!

This guy is the real deal. He taught me with an 8wt Redington CPX a few years ago. You might do well to contact him. Personally, I know his level of expertise is well above most of ours. Nice guy...

Re: Best reel

Nothing against the other reels mentioned; my personal experince is with Abels and Bauers. The Bauer Jackster has would be a fine choice.

There are also some deals, if you search, for used...

Re: Scott G2 7'7" 2wt, comments welcomed

Thanks! The real reason for asking is my local fly shop has one of these on closeout currently. I guess I should go cast the thing and see if it is worth taking home at 50% of retail.

Re: Upgrade reel for Winston 4wt BIIX 8'6"...?

Thanks all.

Ended up with a Hardy 4000 DD for the 4 wt, and a little 1000 CC for the little BIiit 376-4.

Will post some comments after some time with them.

Re: Upgrade reel for Winston 4wt BIIX 8'6"...?

Thanks all. Lots of good choices. I'm leaning towards Hardy reels for now. I like the large and narrow aspect of the Ultralight, both the cc and dd.

Scott G2 7'7" 2wt, comments welcomed

Thinking of possibly picking up the little Scott G2, 2wt 7'7" for mountain streams. Already have a Winston BIIt, 3wt 7'6" and any comparison to it would be appreacated.

Thanks! redleg

Re: Abel BG #0 ported & Bauer M.5SL, near new

Significant price drops.

Bauer is spoken for - thank you.

I might also consider trades or partial trades for the following item(s). Monies either way can be worked out via PM or email.

Re: Report: Cedar River, WA 8/4/12

I am sure glad the Cedar is still producing plump and large rainbows! Thank you for sharing.

I fished the Cedar in the summer of 2006. Was there for business and had some time to fill before...

I agree. But, I do like some adjustability while on stream.

Thanks.

Upgrade reel for Winston 4wt BIIX 8'6"...?

Greetings,

I've fished this rod just a bit and it looks like it may get some more trout time over the next year or two.

Bought the rod when it first came out and have an Abel #0 on it, which...

Re: Best premium rod for beginner?

My very first rod was a Winston "IBIS" 9' 6wt. I still have it. It is not too unresponsive, now that I've had some years with other rods. In fact, I find it quite a versitile rod for still water...

Re: Lost the biggest trout of my life

At least you had a chance at the fish! Many will never have that. That is what I like about our pursuits.

I had a similar experience in NE Ohio a little over a year ago. Steelhead were there...

Re: Saltwater rod question

Great discussion. I've fished with an 8wt for fish over 30 lbs. Unless it's bluewater, I think the most important quality of a rod / angler combination is the ability to cast tight loops and put...
