You are actually heating the shrink tube so that it contracts on the flyline. The trick is to use enough heat to melt the line inside the tube without melting the shrink tube.

Make a new loop.
All you need is some 1/8" shrink tube and a lighter or heat gun. Get the shrink tube at Lowes or any online electrical supply.
