Re: Adventures in a Storm Drain!!

You will love it trust me. Just be careful of where you go and what times you decide to fish. Oh and try to fish during or right after they open flood gates, with a sinking line and a weedless fly...

Re: Adventures in a Storm Drain!!

This thread reminds me a lot of the canals I fish here in miami. You see random junk in these canals like stolen cars or old shopping carts. But let me tell you that those are the places where the...

Re: New fly reel for my TFO Axiom suggestion?

I personally have the Gloomis venture, but the biggest size #7. The drag is nice and smooth. No click on the retrieve but has a nice soft "buzz" with line going out. Real easy to take care of too....

Re: Newbie casting question.

I'm guessing you nail knotted that 12lb mono to the fly line. Your going to want to change that out and use a heavier piece of mono, something like 20 or 25lb. Then your going to want to taper down...

Re: First Rod got about $100 to spend

I might be late on this but I have the GP5/6 and I definitely love it. I use it for peacock bass and I even put a 7wt line which still handles it beautifully. I have a friend who owns a gloomis...

Re: Fluorocarbon tippet

I've been using 8lb vanish as my tippet and havent had any problems. Although if your using dry's im sure you would want to use mono instead to keep it floating.

Re: Just ordered!

So I just got the rod today and I completely fell in love with it. I have my 6wt bonefish line on and it has a medium action. It has a nice relaxed cast to it but can definitely be pushed. I really...

Re: Redfish and Specs Saltwater Swap

I'm done with my crab flies but really hate how they look, many of them came out with one side trimmed way too short. Would it be to late for me to tie up chartreuse schminnows on a #2? I can have...

Re: Sage smallmouth rod casting.

Hey Cliff I heard you have the Redington Predator. How does it cast? Does it have enough backbone to handle baby tarpon? What fish do you generally go after with that rod?

Re: Just ordered!

I know the fly shop has the S4S and Xi3 but they don't have the Predator or the TFO Clouser. What they do have from TFO is the TiCR and TiCRx. They also had a company called Greys, not sure if they...

Re: Just ordered!

Well right now I'm only limited to wading but eventually would like to get a kayak. And I'll be going after bonefish, snook, baby tarpon, and redfish. I like medium action rods, tried a fast action...

Just ordered!

So I just finally ordered myself a new fly rod! With everyone talking about Albright rods being on sale I decided to get the GP rod. I definitely needed to upgrade to something better, it's a 9'...

Re: connection between class tippet and shock tippet

Re: connection between class tippet and shock tippet

The 2lb and 4lb records are juvenile tarpon right? Would you still do a bimini twist with that light of a line? Im guessing you would go with a lighter bite tippet as well like maybe 20lb. Are there...

Re: Old dog tries new trick

So im gonna try the 6wt and see how the whole thing works out. I got to work on my nail knots, or should I use an albright knot for the backing to fly line. Having a lighter line should help me pick...

Jim thank you for coming by to fish yesterday, it was a lot of fun. I'm still surprised that canal had really great fish there. I really wish I had found my digital camera yesterday to take better...

Cudas help....

So I was thinking of going after some cudas later this week and wondered what flies I should use. And would a wire leader be a must? If so how would I tie the wire to my leader?
