Re: What type of fish is this?

That reminds me, years ago Warmwater Fly Fishing Magazine (anyone remember that one?) had an article on fishing in Florida. They were catching oscars that were pets people had released.

Re: First day of fly fishing in 20 years.

Beautiful country! Hard to have a bad day with a fly rod in hand or hunting/stump shooting with a trad bow. I'm impressed that little stream produces pike that big.

Re: Remember your first time casting?

When I was about 12 years old I started sneaking my dads fly rod out to a local creek that my friends and I would fish all summer. That rod was off limits to me at the time. I taught myself to cast...

Re: 5wt for streamers?

I use streamers on 4 wt rods all the time. Small, simple streamers can attract big fish. Here are a couple of the better ones from last year using that combo.

A 23" brown.

Re: 25" Rainbow and a 24" Football

This place is known for big, heavy, strong fish so I use a 10' 7 weight rod. It also helps handle the large streamers I throw. Here is a 24.5 inch fish I caught a few days after the others. The fish...
